Launched in January 2026, "Agatha Christie's Seven Dials" is a murder mystery that finds itself jumping between the years 1920 - when Lord Caterham is gored to death by a bull - and, the current year, 1925. In the latter Gerry Wade, a friend of the late lord's daughter, dies of an apparent overdose. One appears to be an accident and the other, one of misadventure... but are they?
Over the course three episodes, that use the talents of actors Mia McKenna-Bruce, Edward Bluemel, Martin Freeman and, the ludicrously versatile, Helena Bonham Carter, the mystery is steadily resolved.
2. Bad Influencer
Answer: Crime
This 2025 South African drama stars Jo-Anne Reyneke as BK, a single mother who owns a run-down fashion business. In a desperate bid to work her way out of what is likely to be financial ruin, she sets up a counterfeit luxury handbag operation with the aid of a social influencer named Pinky (Cindy Mahlangu). The scheme, however, draws the attention of both the criminals and the police and the two find themselves stepping into waters that are lot warmer than they would like.
Footnote: Not to be mistaken for the 2025 Netflix documentary "Bad Influence: The Dark Side of Kidfluencing"
3. Untamed
Answer: Crime
"Untamed" is a 2025 US crime drama that is set in the vastness of the Yosemite National Park. It is here, in this unending expanse, that nature is the real law. In the midst of this we find Federal agent Kyle Turner (Eric Bana), a man with a past as dark and mysterious as the park itself, being drawn into its foreboding arms to solve the mystery of a woman's death and find the person who killed her.
The season ran for six episodes and also stars Sam Neill, Lily Santiago and Wilson Bethel.
4. Dept. Q
Answer: Crime
The inspiration for this UK police series came from a set of ten novels, "Department Q", first launched by Danish author Jussi Adler-Olsen in 2007.
Our introduction to the main protagonist, DCI Carl Morck (Matthew Goode) is full on and heavy. Though despised as being asocial and arrogant, he is one of the force's top rated detectives. In the opener, he and his colleagues are caught in an ambush. Morck is seriously wounded, his friend, James Hardy (Jamie Sives) is left paralyzed, and a junior officer is killed at the scene. He returns to work and placed into a new role, solving cold cases, and is banished to a damp basement to use as an office. He assembles a team of misfits as they work their way through nine episodes in season one to solve the case of a missing solicitor.
5. How to Get to Heaven from Belfast
Answer: Comedy
This zany Irish comedy was launched in February 2026, and it zeroes in on four best friends - Robyn (Sinead Keenan), Saoirse (Roisin Gallagher), Dara (Caoilfhionn Dunne) and Greta (Natasha O'Keeffe) - though the latter is dead at the start. The other three travel to County Donegal to pay their final respects but, at the wake, strange things occur, which indicates to the girls that there is a great deal of mystery about their friend's death.
The three besties become amateur sleuths, which sees them embark upon a bizarre ride across the country.
6. Man vs Baby
Answer: Comedy
"Man vs Baby", which premiered in December 2025, was born from the fertile minds of Rowan Atkinson and William Davies, and the story follows Trevor Bingley (Atkinson), who we'd previously met in the outrageous "Man vs Bee" in 2022.
This time Trevor has taken on the role of a school caretaker which he feels will provide him with a much quieter life. School is out, the Christmas play is all over, and everyone is gone... now he can relax. However, there is one small hiccup, someone has left the baby Jesus behind and Trevor, suddenly, has another person to look after.
7. Son of a Donkey
Answer: Comedy
"Son of a Donkey" (2025) was created by (and stars) the brothers Theodore and Nathan Saidden, who'd previously gained some notoriety for their YouTube channel "Superwog" (2018).
In this Netflix series Theo plays Theo (of course) who is looking to become independent and leave home, however, things go awry immediately. He becomes embroiled in a road rage incident, has his car impounded and is ordered by the courts to undergo therapy. Further complications arise when Theo's father (played by his younger brother Nathan... of course) falls seriously ill and requires a kidney transplant.
8. Leanne
Answer: Comedy
In the US sitcom "Leanne" (2025) the title character, played by Leanne Morgan, is a grandmother whose life falls to pieces when her husband of 33 years decides he's had enough and leaves her for a much younger woman.
Based upon Morgan's own stand-up routine, the show explores her rebuilding her life with the help of her rather unfiltered family and friends. The series also features Kristen Johnston, Celia Weston, Blake Clark and Ryan Stiles, the latter playing Leanne's husband.
9. Strip Law
Answer: Animation
Adam Scott, Janelle James, Stephen Root, Shannon Gisela and Keith David are the main voices behind this 2026 adult animation.
The series is set in an over-the-top Las Vegas, bloated by sex, violence and, of course, gambling. In the midst of all this is Lincoln Gumb (Adam Scott), a straight-laced, play it by the book lawyer. He's trying to build his own practice, after he'd been kicked out of his mother's law firm, in a world where anything goes.
10. Haunted Hotel
Answer: Animation
"Haunted Hotel" is a 2025 adult animated supernatural sitcom. Katherine Freeling, voiced by Eliza Coupe, inherits her brother's business, the Undervale Hotel in Upstate New York, after his untimely death. What she soon discovers is that the hotel is possessed by a range of quirky, formerly alive, residents and that the joint is often visited by demons and other fiends.
In trying to keep the business afloat, she gets help from Nathan, now a ghost, and an immortal demon named Abaddon (Jimmi Simpson) who is trapped in the body of a young boy from the 1700s.
11. Long Story Short
Answer: Animation
Unapologetically Jewish, "Long Story Short" (2025) follows the stories of the Schwooper family. It is told through the eyes of the children; Avi (Ben Feldman), Shira (Abbi Jacobson) and Yoshi (Max Greenfield), as adults. Confused? It spans several decades, going back to the times of their parents - Naomi Schwartz (Lisa Edelstein) and Elliott Cooper (Paul Reiser) - and it deals with their religion, their romances, their introduction to parenthood in their own right and, ultimately, loss.
This adult animation stems from the glorious imagination of Raphael Bob-Waksberg, the creator of the zany tragi-comedy BoJack Horseman, which ran for six seasons from 2014.
12. Splinter Cell: Deathwatch
Answer: Animation
Sadly, since the passing of Tom Clancy, a number of organizations have sought to make a quick buck on Clancy's name, dishing out a range of half-baked products that have left a lot to be desired. Fortunately, this animated series, "Splinter Cell: Deathwatch" (2025), honors the legacy that Clancy created, and this is evident in the immense talents that they have employed. First up is the recruitment of Liev Schrieber, whose voice adds gravitas to the iconic hero Sam Fisher. The writing and producing was placed in the hands of Derek Kolstad, the man behind the "John Wick" series of films and the responsibility for the animation was given to Sun Creature Studios, who were collaborators on the 2021 animated documentary "Flee", and Fost Studio, who'd collaborated on the 2020 fantasy animation "Wolfwalkers".
In "Splinter Cell: Deathwatch", over the course of eight episodes in season one, we find ourselves set in the world some twelve years after the events of "Splinter Cell: Blacklist" (a 2013 video game) and Sam Fisher has hidden himself away from the rest of the world. His peace is disturbed when he is discovered by a rookie agent, Zinnia McKenna (Kirby Howell-Baptiste), who brings him back out into the open. Here Fisher finds a world that is being confronted by a new threat and some of Sam's old ghosts from the past also decide to surface.
