Captain Georgiou was the captain of the USS Shenzhou in the mid-23rd century. Upon meeting a Klingon vessel, she receives two opposing recommendations from Science Officer Saru and First Officer Burnham; the former suggests retreat and the latter attack. Being turned down, Burnham contacts her foster father, Sarek. She asks what Vulcans did when they met the aggressive Klingons. He says they attacked, but that may not be proper for a Federation ship to employ. Ignoring that part of his advice, Burnham stuns Georgiou with a Vulcan neck pinch and tries to order the Shenzhou to attack. Georgiou recovers before an attack is initiated and arrests Burnham.

Captain Parmenter was an accidental hero from the American Civil War. As he was fetching the commanding officer's laundry, he sneezes. These sneezes are misinterpreted as an order for his fellow Union soldiers to attack, turning the tide of what was the last battle of the American Civil War, the Battle of Appomattox.

He is promoted to full captain (from private), and sent to command the western outpost Fort Courage, where the US Army sends soldiers with the hopes that they desert.

Van Smoot, who has self-titled himself "The Captain", is a boating enthusiast who is married to Zoey. Zoey and Ted Mosby have a love/hate relationship. During one of the love periods, she tells The Captain that she's in love with someone else. Through miscommunication, Ted visits with The Captain when he was really going to his house to pick up some of Zoey's belongings. The Captain thinks that Ted is there as a friend, consoling him about his impending divorce. Ted eventually has to inform The Captain that *he's* the one that Zoey is now in love with.

Captain "Trapper John" McIntyre was one of the initial doctors of the 4077 M*A*S*H unit. He and his cohort, Captain Benjamin "Hawkeye" Pierce are misfits at being US Army officers, but are crackpot surgeons. They are known for their drinking, womanizing, and playing practical jokes (especially jokes on their tentmate Major Burns).

McIntyre was discharged while Pierce was on leave in Tokyo. He left the camp before Pierce returned. Pierce and Radar rush to Kimpo airport to say goodbye, but miss him by 10 minutes. While there, they meet his replacement, Captain BJ Hunnicutt.

Captain Cragen, after serving in the NYPD as a homicide detective. He became captain of the 27th precinct. While there, he was investigated for money laundering, but was exonerated after he exposed his mentor O'Farrell as the real money launderer. Even though he was innocent, he was shunned by many in the police bureaucracy, which prevented him from being promoted above captain.

In 1999, his flight attendant wife was killed in a plane crash. Shortly thereafter, he became the captain of the Special Victims Unit, where he worked for the next 15 years.

Captain Stubing was the commanding officer of the Pacific Princess, a cruise ship that went from Los Angeles to ports of call along the Mexican Pacific coast. His adolescent daughter comes to live with him aboard the ship, eventually performing duties helping the cruise director.

After the series "Star Trek: Voyager", Chakotay is promoted to captain. He is assigned to an experimental ship -- USS Protostar -- which has an experimental propulsion system. Encountering a temporal anomaly, the Protostar travels to the 25th century over the planet Solem where the Federation initiated rather than preventing a catastrophic civil war. To prevent his ship from being used as a weapon against the Federation, he sends it back to the 24th century. A group of youths find it and use it to escape their imprisonment by Solemeans who themselves traveled back in time to find the Protostar and use it as a weapon.

Captain Binghamton was a by-the-book commanding officer of a World War II US Navy base Taratupa. He very much wants to rid himself of the misfit crew of the PT-73 (commanded by LCDR McHale), and is often scheming to do so with the help of his aide Lt Carpenter.

Binghamton is referred to as "Old Leadbottom" or "Leadbottom" by the PT-73 crew, as Binghamton received a bullet wound to his posterior.

Captain Hermann is a 30-year veteran firefighter and captain to Engine 51 at Station 51. He's a deeply loving husband and father of five. After shifts, he works at a bar he and several of his colleagues opened and operate. While renovating the bar, they find a military medal. They track down the owner, who is living at an elder care facility. He tells them about his wife who had recently passed away. They decide to name their bar after her -- Molly's.
