Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In Morocco in Leg 3, racers encountered what new race mechanic?

Answer: Roadside Assistance

Leaving Madrid, racers were informed that they would be making their way southward to the desert city of Marrakesh, Morocco, booking a flight with a local travel agent and arriving in the afternoon on the same plane as one another. Upon landing, racers could hop into cabs and travel out into the Agafay Desert. If they could locate Razani Pottery, they would get their next clue.

Unbeknownst to the racers, one of these clues would include an entirely new race mechanic, Roadside Assistance. Drawn at random from the clues, it would allow its possessor to play it during any Road Block through the fifth leg, allowing the participant to receive help from their teammate.
2. The Road Block teams encountered outside of Marrakech in Leg 3 had them working through pottery. What did they have to do?

Answer: Break it

Reaching Razani Pottery in the desert town of Tameslouht, racers cracked open the Road Block clue, and this one required a teammate who 'feels like they are going to pieces'. For this one, teams needed to search the roadside vendor's extensive wares for pottery rejects, smashing them open to collect clues hidden inside. Ann-Marie, Michelle, Andrea, Javi, Daisha, Joanna, Saran, Conner, Jenn, Dylan, and Cody were selected for this task.

Dafina and Saran received the Roadside Assistance badge in their clue envelope, but held onto it for a future task.
3. Racers completing the 'Talk' Detour task in the Moroccan desert in Leg 3 had to memorize the name of which of these?

Answer: Tea

Leaving the Road Block, racers got back into their cabs and directed them deeper into the Agafay Desert, finding their Detour task waiting amongst the dunes there. Racers could choose either 'Walk' or 'Talk'.

In 'Walk', racers had to feed camels. This involved first making a makeshift feeding station out of two large tires that they had to acquire and strap to a hitching post. Once they'd filled it with alfalfa, they could lead two camels to their station to get their next clue. Ann-Marie and Riley, Conner and Garrett, Doug and Dylan, Anuar and Andrea, and Ali and Joanna picked this challenge (though Anuar and Andrea used their Express Pass to skip the task).

In 'Talk', racers could instead hop into dune buggies, driving out into the desert searching for three signposts, each containing parts of the name of a Amazigh tea. If they could find the signs, return to the starting point, and give the name, they could get a sample of the tea and their next clue. Dafina and Saran, Daisha and Dalton, Erin and Javi, Michelle and Matt, Cody and Jaime, and Jody and Jenn did this one.
4. In Jemaa el-Fnaa, racers had to construct which of these in order to complete Leg 3?

Answer: Fruit stand

Racers left the desert once their Detour was done, directing their taxis into the middle of Marrakech to be dropped off at Arset El Bilk Garden. From there, they could proceed on foot to the world famous market at Jemaa el-Fnaa, locating their clue on the roadway into the square.

What teams found here was a challenge of nerve and patience as they needed to select one of the many fruit stands in the marketplace and properly stack provided fruit to fill in an elaborate display. If they could get it stacked to reflect an example (and have it stay upright) they could get their next clue. Ann-Marie and Riley used their Express Pass to avoid finishing this task.
5. Which team was eliminated in Morocco at the end of the third leg of the race?

Answer: Jody and Jenn

Leaving Jemaa el-Fnaa, racers had to run down the road to the gardens of Koutoubia Mosque to find Phil and their third Pit Stop. Because Ann-Marie and Riley used their Express Pass at the ideal moment, skipping the fruit stand task, they were able to secure a first place win, taking with them a trip for two to Singapore courtesy of Expedia. As an "Amazing Race" record, they became the first mother-daughter team in thirty-nine seasons to win a leg.

Though Doug and Dylan took most of their evening completing the fruit stand, they were able to-- just barely-- edge onto the mat before Jody and Jenn, who were eliminated in eleventh.
6. At the start of Leg 4, teams were released from the Pit Stop in the order they arrived, departing how far apart from one another?

Answer: Every two minutes

Commencing Leg 4, teams discovered that they were to remain in Marrakesh because they were due to complete a Scramble around the Old City Medina. To begin, racers left the Pit Stop at Koutoubia Mosque in the order they arrived in the previous leg, but their time differences were nulled out.

Instead, racers left two minutes after one another and instructed to hop into taxis to travel around the city walls to Bab Debbagh Gate. There, they could find a clue box waiting in Association Sidi Yacoub Tannerie and start their Scramble.
7. The 'Slipper Search' task during the Moroccan Scramble was a Road Block. Did anyone use an Express Pass to skip this challenge?

Answer: No

If teams could find their way to Souk Smata they could start the Road Block for this leg, and one team member could hunt down their "sole-mate". For this challenge, the selected racer would select a pair of Babouche slippers with a unique and intricate design. If they could find the single matching pair amongst those in a series of marked stalls in the Souk, they could trade them in for a piece of their next clue.

Riley, Andrea, Garrett, Ali, Jaime, Michelle, Erin, Dalton, and Dylan completed this task while Dafina and Saran used their Roadside Assistance, working together to get through the challenge. In spite of the craziness of the day, no teams used Express Passes in this leg.
8. The 'Dye 'n Dry' task in Leg 4's Moroccan Scramble had teams dying which of these items?

Answer: Yarn

Dye 'n Dry took teams to the middle of the medina to locate Souk des Teinturiers where, working together, they had to complete an Expedia-driven experience. Joining local dyers, racers had to learn how to properly colour three bundles of yarn-- one in dark blue, and two in yellow-- using proper ingredients and techniques. If the dyemaster approved of their craftsmanship, they would receive another wood block containing their Pit Stop destination.
9. In the 'Rug Run' challenge in Leg 4, racers delivered Moroccan rugs to which location in the Marrakesh medina?

Answer: A café

At the Palais Filali rug shop in the middle of the medina, racers were able to embark on perhaps the most gruelling of their tasks for the Scramble as they had to work together to carry a nine-foot-wide Moroccan rug through the busy, narrow market alleys to a destination across the Old City. Teams could deliver this item to the Bazaar Café, carry it to the rooftop, and lay it out in the sun to get a piece of their puzzle.
10. The last team to arrive at the Pit Stop in Leg 4, finding themselves eliminated, was who of these?

Answer: Cody and Jaime

Once racers had all three wood blocks they could combine them to determine the location of their Pit Stop in Arabic, and with that, they could proceed on foot to the courtyard of the Madrasa Ben Youssef. After an intense afternoon in the Scramble, Michelle and Matt managed to secure an independently-built lead, winning themselves an Expedia trip for two to Okinawa, Japan.

Although Doug and Dylan struggled to get started in the Scramble, they managed to slip ahead of Cody and Jaime at the very end of the leg, eliminating the brother and sister in tenth place.
