Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Only two traitors were initially chosen by Claudia. Actor Richard E Grant was one. Who was the other?

Answer: Maya Jama

Richard E Grant is a well established and respected actor and Maya Jama is a television presenter, notably on 'Love Island'.

Maya proved to be an inspired choice, and handled being a traitor with calmness, flying under the radar and not even suspected until late in the game. Richard was, to put it kindly, less successful. After the round table, where the traitors were picked, the contestants socialise and Richard was asked outright whether he was a faithful or a traitor. Replying 'I'm a traitor' might have been a double bluff, but put an unmissable target on his back and he was promptly banished.

Hannah Fry was recruited to replace him and was soon identified, being banished in episode five.
2. Who was the first celebrity to leave the show?

Answer: Amol Rajan

The two traitors had to choose who should join them as the third needed at the beginning of the game. They picked Amol Rajan, the journalist and host of 'University Challenge', and James Acaster, a comedian. Only one would be picked, while the other was doomed to be murdered.

The two victims had to plead their case to the traitors, who decided to choose James, meaning Amol was 'murdered' before the game had properly started. His journalist background was most likely the main factor, but he missed all of the tasks and round table discussions, so it was a short-lived participation.
3. Ross Kemp caused some amusement in the third episode, due to his paranoia that he had been murdered in plain sight. What innocuous event frightened him?

Answer: Someone put a sailor's hat on him

There were actually two events which frightened Ross. The first came after a task which involved ships in which he performed really well. Bella Ramsey found a sailor's cap which she put on his head as a reward. Later, Leigh-Anne Pinnock rubbed his arm, also as a gesture of appreciation. Ross became convinced that either of these innocent gestures meant he had been murdered.

Ironically, later in the game he was the victim of the actual murder in plain sight in totally different circumstances.
4. The youngest contestant was Sebastian Croft. By what nickname is he known?

Answer: Bash

Sebastian is an actor and singer, with appearances in 'Game of Thrones' as the young Ned Stark to his credit as well as film roles. He also has a strong following on social media. He kept a low profile throughout the game while making friends with everyone and barely came under any suspicion of being a traitor. Both Seb and Bastian are well known nicknames for his full name and Crofty is based on his surname of Croft, but he is generally known as Bash.

He proved that being quiet and observant was a good tactic, making it all the way to the final where he emerged victorious.
5. Actress Julie Hesmondhalgh was among the contestants. In which soap opera did she become well known?

Answer: Coronation Street

Julie had the misfortune to be chosen as the most trustworthy player in the very first episode, which turned out to be a poisoned chalice. With so little to go on, she stood out as a potential traitor to the others, despite being a faithful, and became the third player to be banished, in episode four.

Julie is best known for her role as Hayley Cropper in 'Coronation Street', a part she played from 1998 until 2014.
6. Which comedian was recruited as a traitor, and was extremely reluctant to take on the role?

Answer: James Acaster

All of these players are comedians but it was James was chosen as a traitor early on in the show and struggled with the role throughout. He has been open in the past about his mental health issues and has also been diagnosed with autism so found the need to be dishonest with his fellow competitors harder than most.

Matters came to a head in the penultimate show, when Michael Sheen openly accused both him and Maya of being traitors. James was unable to defend himself and, before the voting, openly admitted to being a traitor, meaning the others had no choice but to vote for him to be banished. Acaster described himself as a 'reluctant traitor' before leaving.
7. Singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock was the final female to be eliminated. With which girl band did she come to fame?

Answer: Little Mix

Leigh-Anne, from the band Little Mix, made it to the final five players, but was the first of them to be banished. Unfortunately for her, suspicion fell on her as she had roped Miranda into learning one of Little Mix's dance routines on the same night that the murder in plain sight was taking place in another room. With little to go on, the faithfuls decided this action was a diversionary tactic meant to help the other traitors carry out their deed. Leigh-Anne's protests that it was just a bit of fun didn't help.

Having survived earlier round table votes, based on the same mistaken theory, Leigh-Anne was finally banished in the final.
8. Which Welsh actor brought about the downfall of one of the traitors at the penultimate round table, only to be murdered that night?

Answer: Michael Sheen

Although all the actors listed are Welsh, it was Michael Sheen who entered the castle for this series. Michael was fairly quiet in the early stages, but became more dominant as the ranks diminished. The scales began to drop from his eyes, and he correctly identified all three traitors but without necessarily convincing his fellow faithful players, who continued to suspect him.

Michael went on the offensive in the penultimate episode, accusing both Maya and James A with the latter being banished after outing himself as a traitor. The remaining traitors realised that keeping Michael was an even bigger risk than murdering him even though that was also a dangerous move due to his accusations against Maya, and he was duly despatched that night.
9. Who was the last player to be voted off in the final?

Answer: James Blunt

Singer/songwriter James Blunt was 'action man' throughout the series in the tasks, organising the teams and making sure they won as much money for charity as they could. Unfortunately, he was less adept at identifying traitors and was instrumental in the banishment of several faithfuls.

Despite this, he reached the final three before managing to doom himself by opting for another banishment when the other two had opted to end the game. This action sealed his fate and he became the final player to leave the show.
10. Which side finished victorious in the 2026 'Celebrity Traitors' show?

Answer: Faithful

Unlike the first series, when traitor Alan Carr won the series, this time the faithfuls won, largely due to Sebastian. With four players left, the vote was tied with two each for the final traitor, Kenny, and faithful James Blunt. Sebastian managed to persuade Romesh to change his vote to Kenny, who was duly banished, although neither Romesh nor Sebastian could be sure he was a traitor nor that the other player was a faithful.

Fortunately, both Sebastian and Romesh revealed themselves to be faithful meaning that they shared the prize pot to donate to their respective chosen charities.
