Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In this series of "The Traitors", twenty-two contestants started the game. Did all of them make it to the castle?

Answer: Yes

Although in past series there have been instances in which some of the contestants have been temporarily banished from the jump or, in the previous series' case, players have been removed from the train to the castle, this fourth series had all twenty-two players free to enter the castle without any strings attached. That's right-- this time, twenty-two players headed into the Scottish Highlands for a chance of winning up to £120,000. And after the first Round Table, the game was on.
2. On Day 1, Claudia selected how many Traitors?

Answer: Four

At the first Round Table, Claudia selected four Traitors off the jump, but the fourth and final one wasn't revealed to the home audience. While Stephen, Rachel, and Hugo were able to ascend to the Traitors' tower on night one, a fourth Traitor, donning a red cloak, would be declared the 'Secret Traitor', known only to Claudia and no one else.

This Secret fourth Traitor would not join the turret until revealed. It would be their role, week-to-week, to provide the Traitors with a shortlist of names, and from that list of names, the other Traitors would be able to commit a Murder.
3. In order to reclaim their ability to select their victims, the Traitors had to place thumbprints on which of these items in the castle?

Answer: Family tree

As soon as the first Traitor was banished from the game at the second Round Table (Hugo), the Traitors left that event to discover that they had an opportunity before them. There would be no Murder that evening, but they would be able to shape the upcoming Mission and take back control of the game from the still-hidden Secret Traitor. To do this, Rachel and Stephen had to shortlist nine players-- half of the field-- for Murder the following evening (with a chance that some of them would receive reprieve).

The only way to do this was by, in plain sight, placing thumbprints next to the contestants' faces on the family tree in the castle entry. They were successful in this, with Rachel making the selections in blood-red ink.
4. The Secret Traitor was revealed to be who of the following?

Answer: Fiona

As Rachel and Stephen succeeded in marking the family tree, they headed to the conclave on night three to meet with the Secret Traitor, having reduced their power and made them into a normal Traitor. It ultimately turned out to be Fiona, who'd been playing as though she'd not fully gotten a grasp of the circumstances set before her, but who'd actually been playing a shrewd and subdued Traitor game, keeping suspicions off of herself entirely. Fiona's volatility would ultimately lead to her banishment only a couple of days later.
5. Under which circumstance was Maz removed from the game?

Answer: Murdered face-to-face

After the family tree task undertaken by the Traitors on Night 3, all thumbprinted contestants were placed 'on trial' for Murder the following evening, and they became key components of the next Mission as it had them placed into cages seeking escape (and cash). Up to five of the players of those nine could be saved from their cages and, as such, get Shields to protect them from being taken out in the night, but anyone left over would be viable. Of the three eligible for Murder (of Sam, Reece, and Maz), the Traitors chose Maz to exit the game, taking him out in person that evening.
6. The fourth Round Table vote saw a tie that ended in a decision by fate. Which player was Banished as a result of this?

Answer: Amanda

After the tense series of events that resulted in players being left out in cages in the dark to face the executioner, many of the contestants were still left without definitive answers pointing to the identities of the three remaining Traitors, and this led to a Round Table in which five votes were cast for Reece, five were for Amanda, and various others went to different players. What this meant was that they needed to face a tie-breaker revote and, unfortunately, this also led to a 7-7 tie between the front-runners.

As per the rules of the game, when this deadlock occurs, the decision is then left to fate. It meant that Amanda was banished (as a Faithful) in a random draw. The Traitors, seizing the opportunity, Murdered Reece that evening.
7. How many players were rewarded with the opportunity to speak to the Traitors in Confessional?

Answer: Two

The game's sixth Mission presented an opportunity for a new, potentially game-changing advantage. The players filled in questionnaires the previous night, and in this game, they had to answer questions about the results, facing them as they passed mirrors on routes through the woods.

The team that won this Mission would have the opportunity to head into the castle's Walled Garden to vie for the chance to speak to the Traitors and ask them two questions, through the Confessional, that evening. The prize was ultimately used by Harriet and Matthew, the former of whom would find themselves banished at the following Round Table. Rachel also received this power, but since she was a Traitor it was a moot point.
8. In a late round of the game, one player had the power of the Dagger, allowing them to do which of these?

Answer: Vote twice

At an unnervingly calm dinner party in which the players had a heartfelt conversation about how they would use the winnings should they win, and with the promise that there would be no Murder that evening, Claudia informed everyone that the Traitors would be rewarding one player-- any player-- with a ceremonial dagger, and the recipient of this would have a double vote at the next Round Table as a result.

The Traitors decided to give it to James in an effort to cause chaos and lead to Matthew's inevitable Banishment.

They were right. While the extra vote wasn't necessarily needed, Matthew was banished as a Faithful and no one was the wiser.
9. The penultimate Round Table saw another tie vote result in Banishment by Fate. This one saw a Traitor eliminated.

Answer: False

With the game coming down to the wire, and with all players receiving Shields protecting them from Murder in the penultimate Mission, the second-to-last Round Table evolved into a battle between Rachel and James, both of whom seemed to have split the table down the middle. Worse, when the players were asked to revote, despite some flips, they tallied up to another tie. What this meant was that the pair were required to leave their fates to chance. Rachel managed to receive the chest containing the Shield, surviving by complete chance, while James was banished moments before the final day.
10. The game was ultimately won by which of these?

Answer: The Traitors

Heading into the final Round Table and the End Game on the final day, the pair of Traitors still in the game managed to whittle the field of Faithfuls down one by one, consolidating their efforts to be the last pair standing with a double vote against Jack. What this meant was that both Stephen and Rachel were left as a duo, electing to split the final prize fund total of £95,750 (taking £47,875 each) and making history as the first Traitor pair on the UK version of the show to take the prize, accomplishing this feat without recruitment and having been selected as Traitors from the jump.
