Harvey Specter was initially a senior partner at Pearson Hardman. He met Mike Ross when Ross was trying to hide from the police by running into an interview session Specter was overseeing. In talking with Ross, he realizes Ross knows the law backward and forward and is better than all the other candidates he's talked to. The problem is that Ross never went to law school. He gained his legal knowledge by using his photographic memory to learn the LSAT material, then taking the test for law students (illegally, by the way). Specter then schemes with Ross to hire him at Pearson Hardman, winning cases but also having to run cover-ups to hide the fact that Ross never went to Harvard Law School.

Dan Fielding is the Assistant District Attorney assigned to night court throughout the run of the series. He's quite lecherous, hitting on nearly every attractive female that comes through the court. His full name is Reinhold Daniel Fielding Elmore, but he chose to drop the "Reinhold" because of embarrassment, and chose surname "Fielding" because he thought it sounded better for a lawyer. He often makes disparaging remarks about the quirky defendants that come to court.
