Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Peter was bitten by a spider during a battle between a symbiote and which other superhero?

Answer: Doctor Strange

In Queens, Peter heads off to his orientation at Midtown High School and arrives just in time for a portal from another universe to open in the sky. As a symbiote passes through, Stephen Strange follows and fights the creature, recognizing that they've ended up somewhere they shouldn't have come. While Strange uses his powers to force the alien being away, no one notices as a spider descends from the portal, dropping onto Peter and biting him.

By the time Peter is in full swing in classes at nearby Rockford T. Bales High School, a consequence of Midtown's damages, he's attained powers from his spider bite. Donning a costume, he operates as a neighbourhood superhero-- Spider Man. And on one day, when he heads to school, he happens to save Harry Osborn from an attack in the city streets. It's not coincidence that he's later met by Harry's father, Norman, who visits him at his and Aunt May's apartment shortly after to offer something of great value.

In the meantime, Parker's able to find success, even if he's not altogether challenged at his school. Friends with fellow Midtown student Nico, he pines after Pearl while acting as a lab partner with her boyfriend, Lonnie. Things are set to change though.
2. In starting his new internship, Peter is placed with Dr. Carla Connors, who specializes in which field?

Answer: Energy research

Norman Osborn visits Peter to offer him an exclusive internship, claiming it's on account of his stellar grades and commitment to science, and naturally Peter has no issues nabbing this opportunity, heading to Oscorp the very next day. Before Peter does, however, Nico warns him that Norman Osborn isn't the most above board of his options. It's still the choice of a lifetime though.

Peter is welcomed into the lab in short order and he's introduced to Jeanne, Asha, and Amadeus-- all his interning colleagues-- and Dr. Wittman, who's set to reluctantly oversee them. He's ultimately placed with Dr. Carla Connors, helping find new achievements in Oscorp's energy research division. Even though Parker wants to work in robotics, he seems well-placed with Connors.

That evening, Parker is surprised to have his pick of things to do. While his fellow interns want to spend time, Nico calls him to join the afterparty for Lonnie's football game. Instead he heads to a blaze in the city, dressed as Spider-Man, and assists law enforcement in bringing down a flame-throwing villain, Butane, who was asked to aid in an insurance fraud scheme (even if he set the wrong building on fire).

Peter returns to Oscorp after taking care of the arsonist and is promptly brought up to Norman Osborn's office. Though he expects to be removed from the internship, the truth is that Osborn wants to get to the bottom of the surveillance footage proving that Peter's the one donning the Spider-Man suit and going off to fight crime.
3. In order to help his brother, Andre, Lonnie does which of the following?

Answer: Joins a gang

Though Norman Osborn has video proof that Parker is, in fact, Spider-Man, Peter tries to keep things under wraps. It's a little more important than he realizes, especially when he's invited to dinner the following night to discuss the fact. As Osborn explains, he created the internship with the aim to determine the vigilante's true identity because, a couple weeks earlier, Peter saved his son, Harry, not only from muggers, but from being hit by a car. He narrowed potential candidates to his four interns, and he was right. All he can do is offer whatever Peter needs-- funds to upgrade his gear, resources, etc.-- but Peter turns down the offer, even initially withdrawing from the internship (though he stays on, ultimately).

At school, things seem to be on the up-and-up for Peter's friends but Lonnie has to, unexpectedly, rush home to meet with his family. As his discovers, his young brother, Andre, was vandalizing a building as a member of the 110th Street Gang. Worse, Andre escaped out his window while his parents talked to the cops. Lonnie finds the gang by tracking his brother's phone, but in going to retrieve Andre, he inadvertently gets himself tied up in Big Donovan's organization, trading himself for his brother.

Elsewhere in the city, a pair of burglars trade money for a briefcase of high-tech gear, subsequently robbing jewellery stores with the acquired items. Peter ends up pursuing them based on police intel, managing to stop them in their tracks with Osborn's impromptu remote assistance, but he determines that their gear bears the same logo that he saw on Butane's torches the other day. It proves to be the perfect opportunity to team up with Osborn; they work well together.
4. Big Donovan's rivals are known by what name?

Answer: The Scorpions

At Oscorp, Osborn informs Peter that things are changing in the world. The news from the east is coming in and the Sokovia Accords have been ratified, meaning that all superheroes must be registered moving forward or, else, they will be fined or imprisoned. While the Avengers skirmish in Europe, there's a lot to do at home. Osborn volunteers to help him along through the bureaucracy, but in the meantime, they have to test him for his new costume... a series of designs that Peter's not completely sold on from the jump.

At school, Lonnie tries to balance his normal high school life with his new and unexpected ties to the 110th Street Gang. Hiding this development from Pearl, he heads off to run errands for Big Donovan, ordering a banquet of food for the gang from a place deep in Highbridge. It just so happens to be the territory of the Scorpions, a rival gang, and the resulting encounter only grips him tighter into Big Donovan's clutches, if only for protection.

While Osborn rationalizes Peter's suit advancements in order to reiterate that the young hero is exactly what society needs to improve, Peter continues to enact his vigilante justice to help the city, ultimately landing on a suit similar to his original, just with slight modifications. It's that night, with the new suit, that he crosses paths with a group of Russian thieves, one of whom, Mila, gets away and returns the goods to her boss, Dr. Otto Octavius, waiting for her in a storage unit in the city.
5. What nickname is Lonnie given?

Answer: Tombstone

After Mila meets with Dr. Octavius in his storage unit, she ends up walking away with another one of his useful tools-- an enhanced helmet with the ability to fire laser blasts. It's just another opportunity to keep putting out his dangerous tech, staking his claim as a genius creator and sticking it to his former colleague, Norman Osborn. Once he has enough money, he can move on from working with petty criminals. Soon, everyone will revere his name.

At Oscorp, Harry discovers Peter's secret and his father puts him to assisting in the Spider-Man plans; Norman has a lot to do, and Harry is a resourceful aide. The partnership is put to the test quickly when Peter has to head out into the city to stop Mila from freeing her fellow thieves from prison. It's a close one, but Peter succeeds in having them all re-jailed.

Lonnie's life, meanwhile, complicates itself further. After getting out of football practice to support the 110th Street Gang, he manages to get involved in a fight between his gang and the Scorpions. It helps, at least, to build Lonnie's reputation with Big Donovan. For stopping the Scorpions' leader, Mac Gargan, from attacking with his knife, Donovan initiates him into the gang with the nickname 'Tombstone'.
6. In investigating a security breach at Oscorp, Spider-Man has a run-in with which other New York City figure?

Answer: Daredevil

Lonnie's life at school complicates as a result of his new ties to the 110; before long he's placed on probation from the football team, a consequence of his repeated absences. Pearl tries to get answers from him, but he refuses to say more than the fact that he's doing it for his family. He later discovers that he's under surveillance, but what he doesn't know is that the Mac Gargan has donned some of Dr. Octavius' robotic tech.

Peter, meanwhile, feels guilty about trying to hang out with both Nico and Harry, and insists that they try with a bit more forthcomingness. Nico agrees, just to give it a chance. It's a particularly eventful night. While Norman Osborn attends a charity gala with the goal of registering Spider-Man as a known superhero with Secretary Ross, Peter is called upon to check in on a security breach at his office, discovering that it's actually New York City vigilante Daredevil. Peter doesn't end up coming back to his night with the others, pretending he's heading out for sodas but subsequently getting knocked out in the fight.

By the time Peter comes to, Norman has already determined that Daredevil may be working in conjunction with Dr. Otto Octavius in an effort to steal their proprietary technology. Worse, in an effort to cover for Peter, Harry semi-accidentally reveals the secret that their mutual friend is Spider-Man, a fact that upsets Nico greatly since he never told her himself. She confirms the truth when Peter finally returns to the apartment and promptly leaves.
7. Dr. Octavius, it appears, is using which of these to power his tech?

Answer: Gamma radiation

In the wake of Peter and Nico's argument, Peter distracts himself from their distancing by focusing on the developments at Oscorp. Norman informs him of his methods; he's using a mass spectrometer to track the energy left behind by Dr. Octavius' tech. Peter hypothesizes that they're picking up traces of a lead-polyethylene-boron composite, and with that knowledge, they can deduce that he's using gamma radiation to power his robotics. It's just enough of a lead to work. In the meantime, Peter has to head to Harlem to intercept the next foe.

While Harry spends time with Nico, developing his friendship with her during her most vulnerable period, Pearl, continues to worry after Lonnie, who's been ignoring her. She ends up getting the info she needs from Lonnie's younger brother and confronts him at the 110th Street headquarters just in time for Mac Gargan, now with a mechanical scorpion tail and referring to himself as 'The Scorpion', to stop by, infiltrate the building, and kill several gang members.

Just as Lonnie gets scooped up by Scorpion, Peter swoops in to save the day, collecting his friends and leans on Norman, from a distance, to provide aid... until Norman finds himself tracking Dr. Octavius with a clearer bead. Peter's suit gets damaged and he runs out of web fluid as Osborn departs, and it leads to a scenario in which he's nearly killed by a foe he originally underestimated. Only at the last moment is Norman able to realize Peter still needs help, saving him with a remote glider after a set of particularly devastating injuries.
8. According to Norman Osborn, "with great power comes great...what?"

Answer: Respect

It's a bit of a twist on the classic "with great power comes great responsibility" line that typically persists in "Spider-Man", but it's a consequence of the alternate sequences of events seen here. After effectively losing the battle against Mac Gargan, Peter reels from the experience, feeling that he's incapable of holding up his role as a superhero, risking everything he's built up and losing the support of Osborn and his resources. When he speaks to Norman about his apprehension, his mentor fully believes that he was only unable to win because he did not lean fully into his capabilities. With great power, he remarks, comes great respect, and without respect he has nothing. If he chooses to continue the fight, Oscorp's best have made a newer suit for him to don, championed by Harry.

Norman, meanwhile, uses his gained intel to finally make his move against Dr. Octavius, contacting Secretary Ross to led the Feds apprehend his former colleague, claiming that he's in breach of the Sokovia Accords. Just like that, the threat is neutralized.

Lonnie and Pearl end their relationship due to the strain placed upon it by Lonnie's involvement in the 110th Street Gang. It frees him up, unfortunately, to work with his fellow gang members to pursue a lead, taking them to Octavius' remaining gear stockpile. They intend to claim it for themselves to engage in a gang fight against Mac Gargan and bring the turf war to an end once and for all.
9. Lonnie obtains superhuman powers when he's exposed to which of these?

Answer: Radioactive gas

While the 110th Street Gang heads out to collect Octavius' transported gear, Peter arrives to intercept and prevent the acquisition. Unfortunately, it means getting in the middle of another gang fight as Gargan, appearing as Scorpion, also uses the opportunity to throw a wrench in the proceedings. It's during this melee that Lonnie is forced to take control, stepping into a leadership position when he witnesses Big Donovan fleeing in his car and leaving his crew high and dry.

Lonnie takes what little time he has to sift through Octavius' tech to find something to give him leverage over Gargan and, in doing so, he finds himself accidentally exposed to a canister of the dangerous radioactive compound, Diox-3, used to power the gear. He collapses in a cloud of the toxin only to emerge unexpectedly empowered by it, allowing him to help Spider-Man escape Gargan's clutches using a newfound super-strength and indestructibility. The pair are able to work together to bring down Scorpion with Peter finding confidence in his strength and Lonnie giving him the restraint to bring Gargan to proper justice.

In the wake of the battle, Nico, who was saved by Peter early in the skirmish, thanks him and accepts his role. At Oscorp, Norman congratulates Peter but doesn't let him in on the progress of the company's scientific endeavours. Unbeknownst to Peter, Norman's staff has been hard at work isolating Peter's powers from his blood. Their most recent experiment: placing Peter's blood into the bloodstream of a spider in the effort of making more Spider-Men from the proper DNA sequence.
10. The interns at Oscorp, as is discovered, contributed their work to what ambitious yet dangerous project?

Answer: Project Monolith

At Oscorp, Peter joins the rest of the interns as Norman takes them for a tour to apprize them of new information. Although they may have been working in separate divisions, they've all been working on the same project from different angles, all with the aim to kickstart Project Monolith's final stages and the most ambitious venture in Oscorp's history. And what it all boils down to is a gateway to outer space and the furthest reaches, allowing them to harvest endless resources. It's risky. It's so risky, in fact, that Doctor Strange himself arrives via a portal to attempt to stop the machine from being activated. And then Norman Osborn activates it anyways.

As soon as the gateway opens to a barren void, Osborn unwittingly allows a mysterious, symbiotic being to pass through the wormhole that Strange immediately jumps into action to keep at bay. Peter, recognizing it for what it is, realizes that something is familiar about the situation and suits up to aid in the fight, managing to pass through Strange's portal to assist him as they fight the creature at Midtown High a short time ago in the past. And yes, the portal lets loose the spider that would go on to bite Peter, bestowing upon him the powers that would later be injected into that same spider in the lab. Peter and Strange are ultimately able to get the symbiotic being back into the wormhole in time to seal it off but Norman is able to retain a piece of it for himself without the others noticing.

In the wake of the events involving Project Monolith, Peter pulls back from assisting Norman Osborn while Harry invests in the creation of his own force, the Worldwide Engineering Brigade, with the aim to let the geniuses do their thing unimpeded by nefarious influences. He's joined by both Peter and Lonnie, who now leads the 110th Street Gang as Tombstone, and former Oscorp intern Jeanne, who reveals herself to be working with Daredevil as an undercover agent. Nico, meanwhile, heads home and conjures a spell to speak to her mother.

In prison, Dr. Octavius mocks up a new design. In the waiting room, Aunt May waits for a chance to speak to Peter's imprisoned father.
