Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Sixteen more Ultimate students are forced to participate in another killing. Like the first two games, the students are reluctant to kill each other even when supplied a motive. What is Monokuma's first motive?

Answer: There will be no class trial

Monokuma states that in order to speed things along, whoever kills another student first can simply admit to it and leave the game without having a class trial. While this does provide some strategy talk about whether anyone should take advantage of this, it still fails to produce a murder victim.
2. Which student suggests that someone kill him to take advantage of the motive?

Answer: Ryoma

Ryoma, the Ultimate Tennis Pro, is a somewhat depressed teenager who admits to killing someone prior to entering the Killing Game. As a result, he no longer has a zest for life or tennis. He suggests to the group that the strongest among them should kill him and take advantage of the no class trial motive.

This way, the killer could escape the school and go seek help in the outside world. The group rejects this suggestion, however, and vows to escape together.
3. What does Kaede do repeatedly that angers most of her classmates?

Answer: She insists they keep trying the escape route through the sewer

The students locate a potential escape route under a manhole cover in the backyard. However, it is (nearly) impossible to navigate and the students fail multiple times. Kaede insists they keep trying which does nothing but exhaust the students. Most of the students become angry with Kaede because she constantly fills them with hope of escape, only to fail miserably each time. Eventually, Kaede concedes and the escape attempt is abandoned.
4. Monokuma is forced to provide a second motive for the students. If no one is murdered in forty-eight hours, what will happen?

Answer: They will all be executed

An angry Monokuma and his Monokubs are eager to get things going so he puts a forty-eight hour time limit. If no one dies during that time, the Monokubs will execute all sixteen students by shredding them with their exisals, giant mechanical robots who patrol the school and grounds.

This motive also appears to be fruitless as the students begin banding even closer together to fight back against Monokuma.
5. The entrance to the mastermind's lair is hidden in which location?

Answer: Library

As the situation grows more dire with each passing minute, the students explore the school for another possible means of escape. Kaede and Shuichi discover a hidden door behind a bookcase in the library. The secret room is only accessible with a key card whom no one admits to possessing. Ultimate Detective Shuichi places dust in the scanner so it will be noticeable if anyone accesses the secret room by scanning in. Kaede and Shuichi tell no one of their discovery as they plan to trap the mastermind.
6. Who helps Kaede and Shuichi set up the cameras?

Answer: Miu

Miu is the Ultimate Inventor and one of only two people who have access to their training labs (the other is Kaede, the Ultimate Pianist). Shuichi and Kaede ask her if she can add sensors to cameras they found in the warehouse. Miu agrees despite having some reservations as Kaede and Shuichi do not fully let her in on their intentions. Miu constructs three cameras with flash that can take and store photos whenever someone walks by. However, there is a thirty second interval when the camera cannot take a photo as it rewinds itself.

Shuichi and Kaede set up the cameras in the library so there is one by both entrances and one in front of the secret door. After securing the ceiling vent shut with books, Shuichi and Kaede made it impossible for anyone to enter the library without being caught on camera.
7. Just as time is about to expire, Rantaro is found murdered in the library. With what item was he killed?

Answer: Shotput ball

As Kaede and Shuichi wait in an upstairs classroom for a flash to register in the basement library, they bond and become quick friends. Just as the countdown nears an end, Shuichi's receiver goes off indicating someone is in the library. The two run downstairs and meet up with Kaito and Tenko. Together, those four find Rantaro's dead body in front of the moving bookcase. Rantaro died after being struck on the head with a shotput ball.

Initially, it is assumed Rantaro is the mastermind behind the Killing Game. However, this is quickly disproven when Monokuma appears and the students notice Rantaro did not have the card key on him nor has the dust on the scanner moved. In addition, the murderer does not come forward to take advantage of the no-trial motive that is still active so a trial was called.
8. Which of the following groups of people were not together at the time of Rantaro's death?

Answer: Keebo, Kokichi and Ryoma

As the deadline approached, Kaito, the Ultimate Astronaut, gathered whom he considered the strongest students to prepare to battle Monokuma. He teamed up with Tenko, Maki and Gonta who all possessed physical strength and Himiko whom he considered magical and Angie because he believed her god Atua could help. Those seven met in the basement game room for a strategy meeting. The meeting was delayed because Rantaro was asked to join but he left the room before it began. Gonta moved into the adjoining AV Room but the door to the hallway there did not open, giving him an alibi.

Korekiyo, Tsumugi and Kirumi were all in the dining hall with Miu who was working on a new invention to stop Monokuma. Tsumugi briefly left to use the restroom, which makes her the initial suspect, but she was only gone for a very brief time.

Shuichi and Kaede were together in the lookout classroom on the first floor whose vent connects with the one in the library. They stayed there so they could safely monitor the library at a distance but the room was also close enough that they could catch anyone who triggered the sensor in the cameras before they could flee the library.

Keebo, Kokichi and Ryoma have no alibi as each was alone in his dorm room. Despite this, no one seriously considered any of them a prime suspect.
9. Tsumugi can only cosplay as fictional characters.

Answer: True

Tsumugi is the Ultimate Cosplayer. However, she can only dress up as fictional characters otherwise she breaks out in a rash called cospox. This is brought up a few times before and during the trial.

When Tsumugi was with the group in the dining room, she briefly excused herself to go to the restroom. This caused a few people to be suspicious of her, but Tsumugi never appeared on the camera in the library. Miu suggests that Tsumugi cosplayed as another student and may have been part of Kaito's group. However, her cospox disproves that as well.
10. Who is executed for the murder of Rantaro?

Answer: Kaede

After much discussion, Kaede comes forward and confesses. She hoped to end the Killing Game by killing the mastermind. When she and Shuichi secured the library with the cameras, she stacked the books by the vent in such a way that they formed a ramp from the vent to the moving bookcase. When the sensor went off, Kaede tossed the shot put into the vent in the classroom upstairs where it traveled through the vent, down the ramp and onto Rantaro's head. This allowed Kaede to kill Rantaro without ever entering the library. However, she kept quiet and didn't take advantage of the no trial perk because she realized she made an error and killed the wrong person. Rantaro also discovered the secret door and was investigating it when he was killed.

She receives the Der Flohwalzer execution which sees her hanged by the neck and bobbed up and down on a giant piano before the spiky lid closes on her, crushing her to death. Before the lid closes, Monodam pushes Monokid under it, killing him as well.

Since Kaede was the player character, Shuichi takes over this role going forward. He vows to end the Killing Game for his friend and refuses to allow her life to go to waste. Shuichi feels responsible for her execution because he believes he put the idea into her head that she should kill the mastermind. In addition, he neglected to tell Kaede about the thirty second intervals after the camera flashes and then tried to cover it up during the trial. This did nothing but put suspicion on himself which forced Kaede to out herself to save her friend. After the trial, Shuichi gets into an argument with Kaito about how Shuichi failed to defend his friend. The fight ends when Kaito punches Shuichi in the face.
