Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Monokuma wastes no time in giving out his next motive. If the students perform a resurrection ritual correctly, they will be able to resurrect a fallen student. Despite severe reservations from everyone else, Angie is more than eager to do this. Who does Angie intend to resurrect?

Answer: Rantaro

Many students are suspicious that resurrecting a dead student is even possible. Nonetheless, Angie is insistent they go for it and selects Rantaro to come back. She says Kirumi and Kaede are out because they were murderers while Ryoma had no desire to live, leaving Rantaro as the only option.

She constructs was effigies in her newly opened research lab of the four deceased students to use in the ritual.
2. Who was NOT a member of Angie's student council?

Answer: Miu

Angie's mental wellbeing was in obvious decline after Kirumi's execution. She started relying on Atua's words even more frequently and began recruiting others to do the same. She became obsessed with the idea that they could all live in harmony if they just followed Atua's every word.

She formed a student council consisting of six people: herself, Gonta, Tsumugi, Keebo, Himiko and Tenko. The student council acted as something of a police force and began enforcing its own rules such as forbidding late night meetups and gatherings. The Student Council was overly strict but rarely succeeded in stopping the others from doing what they wanted.

Tenko tells Shuichi, Kaito and Maki that she doesn't really believe in Angie's Atua cult and only joined to protect Himiko whom she felt was being brainwashed. The four visit Angie to try and convince her to disband her plans but she refuses. They also learn that Angie locks her lab from the inside (since Monodam ate the key) and won't allow anyone to see her except for the Student Council members.
3. What piece of evidence proves that Angie did not complete the resurrection ritual before she was murdered?

Answer: Necronomicon

The possibility that Angie successfully resurrected a deceased student who then turned around and killed her is discussed despite some people finding that absurd. As Shuichi points out, that couldn't have happened even if it were possible to bring someone back from the dead.

The final step in the ritual is to burn the Necronomicon book. However, the book was found intact. In addition, the book says that all of the remaining students have to participate in the resurrection ceremony otherwise it would fail and no one attended such a thing.
4. What is the name of the ritual Korekiyo wants to perform?

Answer: Caged Child

Korekiyo, the Ultimate Anthropologist, finds the directions for a rare ritual called the Caged Child in his newly unveiled research lab. The group decides they should use this ritual to summon Angie from beyond the grave and ask her who killed her.

The ritual takes places in the middle empty room on the third floor. Korekiyo draws a giant salt circle on the floor. In the center of the circle, one person must lay prostrated while a cage is placed over them. The cage is then covered with a cloth and a heavy statue placed on top of it. Four people, one in each corner of the darkened room, must sing a chant to summon the spirit. The spirit will enter the "caged child".

Himiko volunteers to be the caged child but Tenko insists she must do it. During the ritual, Kokichi, Korekiyo, Himiko and Shuichi chant. A noise is heard but when the ritual is over, there is no spirit. After removing the sheet and cage, Tenko is found dead with a stab wound on her neck.
5. This chapter's blackened is the person who killed whom?

Answer: Angie

The murder of Tenko added some confusion into the mix. The investigation into Angie's murder was already underway when Tenko was killed. Because there would only be one class trial and the possibility the victims were killed by two different culprits, the blackened would be the person who killed the first victim to be found, which was Angie. Monokuma explains that whoever killed Tenko wasted their opportunity to earn freedom.

This upset several students, most notably Himiko, because Monokuma declared that Tenko's life was wasted and her death doesn't matter.
6. All three empty rooms on the third floor have which characteristic?

Answer: A loose floorboard

Once again, Himiko was the initial prime suspect. As a member of the Student Council, Himiko was one of the people Angie would have allowed in her lab. She was also the person who suggested the middle empty room be used for the Caged Child ceremony. Because the very obvious loose floorboard in that room clearly played a role in Tenko's murder, Himiko was the most likely suspect.

However, Kokichi discovered that the other two empty rooms also have a loose floorboard in the same exact spot (which he accidentally fell through one of them).

The killer cut out a piece of the crosspiece under the floorboards in each of the rooms. So when they asked which room should be used for the Caged Child, any of the options would do.
7. Where was Angie murdered?

Answer: In her lab

Initially it seemed like Angie was somehow murdered inside her locked research lab. However, during the investigation into Tenko's murder, Shuichi found dried blood under the floorboards in the middle empty room that could not have been Tenko's. This led everyone to believe Angie was also killed in the middle empty room.

However, there was a lot of blood under her body when it was discovered in her lab. In addition, a wound on her head had been taped over to keep the blood from spilling out. Shuichi reasons that Angie was struck on the head and knocked out somewhere else and transported to her lab before the killer stabbed her with a katana.
8. Angie and Tenko were killed by the same person.

Answer: True

Shuichi explains that the only thing that makes sense is if both Angie and Tenko were killed by the same person: Korekiyo. Only Korekiyo had the knowledge of the Caged Child ceremony to set up the trap for Tenko. He prepared each of the three empty rooms by loosening a floorboard. When the middle room was selected, he drew the salt circle so that the "Caged Child" would be lying on that floorboard. Kokichi and Shuichi placed the cage over Tenko then left the circle. Korekiyo then entered the circle to place sheet over the cage. However, he also placed a dagger into the cage. Later during the chanting, Korekiyo snuck around and stepped on the loose floorboard. This created a seesaw effect that sent Tenko upward into the dagger.

Because only Korekiyo could have killed Tenko (which he admits to since he cannot be executed for that crime), only he could have killed Angie as well. Angie was struck with the loose board when she walked in on Korekiyo sawing the beam.
9. Who was the intended victim in this case?

Answer: Any girl

Korekiyo had a, perhaps, one-sided and potentially incestuous relationship with his sister who had died in the outside world. He wanted to kill 100 girls to send as friends to her in the afterlife. Korekiyo claimed he already killed over 90 before entering the Killing Game.

He had his eyes set on any of the remaining girls (except Miu and Maki whom he deemed unworthy). When selecting the caged child, Korekiyo stated that anyone could be the caged child but it worked better with a girl. After being exposed, he admits that it didn't really matter to him who it was and he was gunning for no particular girl.
10. Which Monokub commits suicide during Korekiyo's execution?

Answer: Monodam

Korekiyo receives the Cultural Melting Pot execution which sees him tied up and dangled over a boiling cauldron. The Monokubs spin him around before he is dropped into the cauldron where he is boiled alive. After death, Korekiyo ascends to Heaven where Monokuma and Korekiyo's sister purify his spirit with salt, vanquishing him.

During the execution, Monodam walks right into the fire used to heat the cauldron. During the investigation, Monokuma was absent (apparently on vacation) so Monodam ran the show and dominated his brother and sister. However, once their father returned, Monodam was on the outs and apparently committed suicide after losing power.
