Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Nightlord attached to this expedition became the first Nightlord to consistently be a gank fight. That said, amidst the group of valkyries is one leader who assumes a title reflected by the game. What is the leader of the Balancers' title?

Answer: Salvation's Standard Bearer

Seven individual enemies make up this boss fight. Six of them look identical to one another, as valkyries donning white armor and wielding a glaive of some kind. The seventh, the "leader", instead harbors a pink-ish aura and attacks more aggressively than the others.

The leader's defeat is not necessary to end this fight. The player could defeat the entire Nightlord without laying a finger on the leader. Slaying the leader does harbor one significant difference to slaying one of the other six, though, prompting any dead valkyries to rise and join in on a huge nuking attack they'll drop on the battlefield.
2. This group of valkyries is named "Harmonia." The Harmonia do possess a collective title on their own. What are the Harmonia labelled as?

Answer: Weapon-Bequeathed

When the fight begins, a health bar appearing next to the title "Weapon-Bequeathed Harmonia" will appear. This notably never goes away, even during Everdark phase.
3. Technically, this boss does have a noted weakness listed in the description. What are the Balancers most weak to?

Answer: Sleep

This is probably the most useless "weakness" in the game. Sleep afflicted by the player does not deal any damage, so the Balancers being weak to it merely means it is easier to put them to sleep. Putting them to sleep sadly gives basically no real advantage to the player; there are typically numerous threats active at once, and the Sleep only lasts for a few seconds once applied. The nail in the coffin here is that, almost every time, the player will put a valkyrie to sleep, just to inadvertently wake it right back up with an attack. While they are indeed easy to Sleep, the general uselessness of the status makes doing so a questionable idea.

While Sleep is nice to have, players should not feel inclined to go out of their way just to ensure they have it for this fight. Instead, simply bringing the most powerful weaponry the player can find will do best.
4. Essentially, the player is fighting seven different valkyrie angels in this fight. As such, their biggest resistance may be fairly straightforward to deduce. What element is least effective in this fight?

Answer: Holy

Each valkyrie has very tiny, almost unnoticeable resistances to Fire, Lightning and Magic. But, they each boast a 30% resistance to Holy.

While they may resist Holy, the fact that so many targets are on hand at once still does give credence to tactics like the Sacred Relic Sword or perhaps Wrath of Gold, as these skills do possess AoE-shredding traits. That said, non-Holy AoEs such as Ancient Dragon Lightning Strike, Burn O' Flame! or Glintstone Arc would be more effective due to not being as resisted as Holy.
5. During Night 1 of this expedition, there are some interesting names that can appear for the night boss. One of them is sure to resonate with longtime From Software players, as a returning face from "Dark Souls 3's" DLC. Which of the following can appear on Night 1?

Answer: Demon From Below & Demon In Pain

The incorrect answers to this question simply would have been going way too hard to be Night 1 bosses, and would, if added to this game, doubtlessly become Night 2 bosses. That said, because of the way the Demon Prince fights work, the twin Demons make for a perfect Night 1 boss.

Unlike "Dark Souls 3", the player will not fight the Demon Prince as soon as the twin demons are slain. Similarly to its original appearance, the Demon Prince manifests itself in the last of the twin demons to be slain, and does so right after the slaying happens. However, unlike "Dark Souls 3", the Demon Prince here will fly away and reappear on Night 2 to fight the player(s).

This is the only Night boss in the entire game that therefore technically takes two whole nights to completely defeat. The player(s) will still earn runes for defeating the twin demons, however.
6. Night 2 of this expedition could pit players up against a demigod from "Elden Ring", one known for guarding the entrance to that game's DLC content. Which of the following can appear during Night 2 of this expedition?

Answer: Mohg, Lord of Blood

The game can actually show its hand and reveal Mohg's presence as the upcoming night boss early, something it can't do for any other Night boss. If the player locates the Special Merchant of Limveld, this merchant will be selling the Purified Cracked Crystal Tear if, and only if, Mohg is set to be the Night 2 boss. Of course, seeing this tear (or not seeing it at all) would allow the player to know for sure who their Night 2 boss is going to be.

In this game, Mohg functions very similarly to his original appearance, only boasting one new move. After casting his signature Bloodboon Ritual, Mohg will channel energy and eventually emit a force which spawns several red-glowing tridents all around the battlefield. Each trident covers its own area of effect, and can be destroyed by players. After about a minute, any tridents left undestroyed will repeat the Bloodboon Ritual in their own AoEs. As such, players need to make sure to destroy at least enough tridents to give them safe space to continue the fight against Mohg.
7. In the realm of aesthetics, From Software definitely took a risk with one attack the valkyries are allowed to do. Labeled "Purity of Lightning", this is a grab attack where, once they grab a player, the valkyrie will do something quite shocking to their character. What will happen?

Answer: The target gets crucified

Upon being grabbed, the valkyrie doing the grabbing will straight up use some kind of magic to attach the target to the lengthy hilt of their weapon, stick the weapon high, and nail the target's hands and feet to their weapon with their arms stretched out wide. After the crucifixion is finished, the stabbing and skewering are repeated for a second instance of damage before the attack ends.

Of course, this attack deals loads of damage and is a grab, so it can't be blocked. It can be difficult to dodge too, as a valkyrie off camera can target the player with this attack while being unseen. It is the threat of this attack that prompts heightened awareness from players during phase 2, or phase 1 of the Everdark fight, as this is when the valkyries are able to start using it.
8. Players who get nauseous easily should look away from their screen upon finishing the first phase of the Everdark version of this fight. When the last valkyrie is defeated, it will stand up and do something quite shocking to indicate the phase change. What will it do?

Answer: It will rip its own face off

I've labeled this with the most family friendly wording I could think of, as this is technically the simple version of what happens. That said, for as silly as it sounds, the last valkyrie to be slain before Everdark phase will stand and slowly begin to peel off its own face, causing a brief, bloody and gory mess that lasts for about five to six seconds.

As the valkyrie does this, the players' screens will go dark briefly, then light back up to begin Everdark phase in a new, much more morose and fanatic setting.
9. Upon beginning Everdark phase, the gravity and tempo of the fight changes drastically. Which of the following, immediately albeit temporarily, changes about this fight upon Everdark phase beginning?

Answer: Quantity of enemies

When Everdark phase begins, right after coming in from the fade out, a massive and monstrous worm-like entity will appear to attack in the stead of the valkyries fought previously. The worm-like creature will launch several massive AoE attacks before unleashing a large AoE attempting to inflict players with Blood Loss, before it goes away and gives the field back to the valkyries.

Despite clearly not being a valkyrie itself, this worm-like monster shares the same health bar as the valkyries. So in damaging it, the player is still damaging the boss.
10. When defeating the regular version of this boss for the first time, players receive The Will of the Balancers relic. When defeating Everdark Balancers for the first time, they will receive The Will of Balance relic. Both of these relics share two traits in common. What is one of them?

Answer: Improved Melee Attack Power

It's rather ironic that these are called 'the will of the Balancers' since From Software, the game's developer, are the game's 'balancers' technically, yet their 'will' was to put the two most broken relics in the game in essentially the same boss fight.

Both relics give a 5% boost to any form of melee damage the player can do. This stacks. One other trait they share in common is a stackable 20% Skill Attack Power boost. Finally, Will of the Balancers ends by giving Continuous FP Recovery, while the Will of Balance gives a 20% chance for the player to simply nullify an attack if they were suffering from a defense debuff of some kind.

Simply put, these are the best relics in the game for any character seeking to deal damage, and do so with melee. The Raider, The Wylder, The Undertaker, The Executor, The Duchess, heck, even The Scholar really, really should use these relics.
