Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. As the player approaches the main gateway into Leyndell, they find a gank fight awaiting them guarding the entrance. Two of which enemy will attack the player here?

Answer: Tree Sentinel

One Tree Sentinel wields the Golden Halberd along with a large golden greatshield, while the other uses a massive golden greatsword to go with a torch. They aren't mandatory, as a player riding through on Torrent can easily blow past them and blaze into Leyndell in style. On foot, however, the player won't be able to flee from them, so unless intending to fight them, it's best to do this single rather than multiplayer.
2. Once in Leyndell, the player finds what appears to be the remnants of a destroyed, overrun garrison established by Leyndell forces. Traveling through here, the player will be ambushed by a familiar face in the form of a mini boss. First fought at Stormveil Castle, which character seems to love talking about the player's "meager flame"?

Answer: Margit the Fell Omen

Riding through the ruined garrison, the player will find a random soldier stumbling about a pile of rubble. Getting close to this man will cause the player to hear Margit whisper in their ear "I see thee little Tarnished. Smold'ring in thy meager flame." After hearing this, the 'soldier' will reveal that he was actually Margit in disguise! This is a basic reskin of the formal boss fight.

When defeated here, Margit will drop a Viridian Amber Medallion +1.
3. As the player approaches the Capital Rampart of Leyndell, they'll find a Draconic Tree Sentinel standing guard, with a fog door behind him denying the player entry. The fog door is removed when the sentinel is defeated. Is defeating the sentinel the only way to proceed?

Answer: No

Though tedious and in no way time efficient, the player could decide to go all the way to the Deeproot Depths, defeat Fia's Champions and possibly Lichdragon Fortisaxx, where they can then use a teleporter which will warp them to just beyond the fog door the Draconic Tree Sentinel is guarding. Because of this, the fight with the Draconic Tree Sentinel is technically not mandatory.

However, again, the thinking that a player should go through three entire massive areas, potentially fight six entire bosses, with at least 2-3 being mandatory, only to skip this one fight is silly.

It would only be advisable if the player is having a really hard time and simply cannot defeat the Draconic Tree Sentinel. Even then, just summon a friend to provide some help!
4. Leyndell can be a tough cookie the first go around, as there are quite a large number of mini bosses awaiting the player both in the outskirts and within city walls. Which of the following is a mini boss the player will encounter?

Answer: Valiant Gargoyle

Thankfully, there's only one this time. Still, even alone, these gargoyles pose a major threat. They cover ground quickly, hit really hard, take hits back very effectively and are immune to all forms of status. It is actually possible to sneak past this gargoyle, but there is a Golden Seed in plain view sitting just in front of the gargoyle that the player will miss if they sneak past. Predictably, there is no way to obtain the seed without attracting the gargoyle's attention, so the player will have a tricky decision to make here.
5. The first time the player travels through Leyndell, they've got two mandatory bosses to deal with. Who is the first one?

Answer: Godfrey, First Elden Lord

Interestingly, this is a shade of Godfrey, not the real deal. The game's lore never clarifies on what exactly Godfrey's shade was doing here, but it could have some relation to Morgott's ability to create 'clones' of himself combined with how Godfrey is his father. Even then, that's a very vague set of motives establishing why Godfrey is here, but it's the best we've got.
6. Interestingly, with a bit of detective work, the player can travel into the sewer down beneath Leyndell. There is more than meets the eye down here, and the player could potentially find themselves in the presence of a surprising enemy. Which demigod makes an appearance in the sewer?

Answer: Mohg

As it turns out, much like Morgott, Mohg is capable of essentially creating clones of himself. This is the case here, as "Mohg the Omen" is a boss fight down in the sewer, and this is not the 'real' Mohg similarly to how the player can fight 'fake' iterations of Margit.

The soundtrack does a good job reflecting this, being the same soundtrack from fighting 'real' Mohg only missing the a capella entirely, being just a dreary melody. Mohg will not have a second phase nor the Nihil mechanic, making this fight out to be incredibly barebones in comparison.

When defeated, Mohg will drop the Bloodflame Talons incantation.
7. On their way to the second and final mandatory boss fight of Leyndell, the player will find a very surprising NPC has left a summon sign, offering assistance for the upcoming battle. Who has extended a helping hand here?

Answer: Melina

This is the first time in From Software history that the player's level up companion ended up helping them in combat. Melina, responsible for leveling the player up and giving them use of Torrent, wields the Blade of Calling along with several Erdtree related healing incantations.

She is surprisingly tanky, incredibly agile and diligent on maintaining the player's health as efficiently as possible. Curiously, her AI seems more concerned with healing any other companions the player brings along, such as Spirit summons, a fellow player, or Dung Eater since he can also be summoned for this fight.
8. The fight with Morgott the Omen King begins with a lengthy cinematic. Here, Morgott identifies the names of all but one other Demi god, then gives his opinion on their integrity. What does Morgott label the likes of Radahn, Rykard, Godrick, Malenia, Miquella and Ranni as?

Answer: Willful traitors

Morgott's rationale is that these are the people who mainly were involved in the War of Shattering which culminated in the destruction of the Elden Ring. Of the demigods which make this family up, Morgott is the only one who remained in Leyndell to defend the Erdtree, while the others ventured off to become as strong as possible to try and establish dominance over the Lands Between. Because they essentially abandoned the Erdtree, Morgott views them as willful traitors.
9. After defeating Morgott, the player will try to enter the Erdtree to finally, at long last, become Elden Lord. There is a problem, however, as the Erdtree is consciously denying the player entry. Melina will inform the player on where they need to go to find a solution. What is the solution?

Answer: Burn the Erdtree

Using flame from the Forge of Giants is needed, as just any old type of fire won't do. Additionally, according to Finger Reader Elia, 'special kindling' will be required to cause a suitable fire. Depending on player choice, this will either involve sacrificing Melina's life using her body as kindling, or the player will need to establish contact with the Three Fingers, inherit the Frenzied Flame, and do the deed themselves.
10. Morgott's Remembrance can be used to obtain one of two things. One is his weapon, but the second is actually a usable item. What is it?

Answer: Regal Omen Bairn

The Regal Omen Bairn is just a better version of the Omen Bairn, an item which can be looted from the Leyndell sewer. The Regal Omen Bairn uses a small amount of FP to fire out a series of wraiths from the player's position which will pursue the target the player has locked on to.

It does not have any stat requirements nor any scaling, so it's damage output will be consistent across any build imaginable. It can be used an infinite amount of times so long as the player has enough FP.
11. As the player continues with their journey, they'll eventually find themselves needing to return to Leyndell. After defeating Maliketh the Black Blade, Leyndell has now been thoroughly destroyed, though the Erdtree is now down and the player can finally become Elden Lord. That is, until they find they've been betrayed by a fellow of the Roundtable Hold, who shows up and tries to stop the player from taking the throne. Who becmes a boss fight in this way?

Answer: Sir Gideon Ofnir the All-Knowing

Gideon will be waiting for the player in the Erdtree Sanctuary. He will explain to the player that Queen Marika is hoping that the Tarnished will suffer and struggle for all of eternity and, to try and uphold this wish, he cannot allow the player to take the throne.

He does battle with a massive arsenal of spells. Comet, Comet Azur, Carian Phalanx, Triple Rings of Light, Law of Causality, Blackflame Ritual, Bloodboon, Scarlet Aeonia, and Rykard's Rancor make up his entire catalogue. If the player has finished Sorceress Sellen's questline before initially encountering Gideon here, he will lose access to Comet Azur. If the player does not defeat Mohg,, Lord of Blood and Malenia, Goddess of Rot, or if they do and simply never tell Gideon about it, he will lose access to Bloodboon and Scarlet Aeonia, respectively.
12. The player returns to the Elden Thrine, where they previously fought Morgott. Here, they find a man mourning over Morgott's corpse- this man respectfully and honorably challenges the player to a duel over being crowned Elden Lord. Who is this fight against?

Answer: Godfrey, First Elden Lord

This time, it's the real Godfrey, not his shade. As such, he is now susceptible to all forms of status, though he does have high resistance to Blood Loss and Frostbite. He fights in the same way as his shade, though he does have a second phase that the shade didn't get.
13. At half health, the conflict at the Elden Throne begins to really turn up the tempo. We get a surprise secret identity reveal, as the man before you will proclaim that he now "fights as ______ ____, Warrior!" What is this man's name?

Answer: Hoarah Loux

This appears to be a secret identity of sorts, odd given that there was no indication that 'Godfrey' was a fake name to begin with. As it happens, Godfrey grafted a Lion to his shoulder- not akin to Godrick grafting a dragon to become stronger, as Godfrey used this lion to actually restrain him to keep his bloodlust in check.

At half health, Godfrey removes this Lion and reveals that he is actually Hoarah Loux. With no Lion to hold him back, Hoarah Loux really starts to go wild when this cinematic is over and the fight resumes.
14. Upon finally claiming victory, the player will be told something about becoming Elden Lord in the fading moments of the fight. What are they told?

Answer: "Thy strength befits a crown"

If the player loses to Godfrey in his first phase, he will tell them it was nobly fought as the game is fading out. If the player loses to Hoarah Loux, he will tell them that a crown is warranted with strength. If the player defeats Hoarah Loux and wins the fight, he will compliment them by saying their strength befits a crown.

Godfrey/Hoarah Loux become fairly memorable, as they're the only boss in the game that seems to actually respect the player and the lengthy journey they've undergone to get here. Even in defeating the player, Godfrey is respectful as he would presumably walk away to go claim the throne. In his own defeat, rather than lament the player like seemingly everyone else does, Hoarah Loux still accepts defeat gracefully.
15. Advancing past the Elden Throne, the player can finally access the Erdtree for the entire game's final boss fight. Radagon of the Golden Order will rush to greet the player, but once he's defeated, things are far from over as a second boss fight appears. Who is it?

Answer: Elden Beast

The Elden Beast is an enormous fish-like monster wielding an enormous Scared Relic sword, as it appears to have opposable thumbs with which to use this weapon. It will frequently use holy powers, having an empowered Wave of Gold and Elden Stars to go with a series of its own custom made powerful holy attacks.

It has a lot of HP and frequently moves around the arena, making this out to be a long fight.
