The rifle was found to have been purchased by mail order by Oswald in March, 1963. In April, he attempted to shoot right-wing General Edwin Walker. Oswald fired a shot through a window in Walker's residence, which was deflected by the frame and passed so closed to the General that it passed through his hair. Forensic tests concluded that the attempted killing of Walker and President Kennedy's assassination were carried out using the same weapon, namely Oswald's Mannlicher Carcano.

Answer: Gerald R. Ford

Chaired by Chief Justice Earl Warren, the members were Senators Richard B. Russell (Georgia), John Sherman Cooper (Kentucky), Representatives Gerald Ford (Michigan) Hale Boggs (Louisiana), Allen W. 8. What was the colloquial name for the theory put forward to explain President Kennedy and Governor Connally being wounded by the same bullet?

Answer: The Magic Bullet

Properly called the "Single Bullet Theory", it is one of the most controversial aspects of the Warren Report. Formulated by Commission counsel, Arlen Spector, the theory posits that President Kennedy and Governor Connally were struck by a single bullet that passed through both men.

The theory states that the President was hit in the upper back/ neck area with the missile exiting his throat and going on to pass through the Governor's chest, break his right wrist and end up in his left thigh where it fell out at Parkland Hospital and was discovered on a stretcher. Critics said that the bullet followed an impossible trajectory, but it was later demonstrated to be a physical possibility.
9. How many volumes of testimony were published along with the report?

Answer: 26

The 26 volumes of hearings, testimony and exhibits were published on November 23rd, 1964,to support the official report. Volumes 6-15 consisted of testimony gathered by staff attorneys in cities such as Dallas and New Orleans, where Oswald was born and lived in the year prior to the assassination.

These volumes encompass interviews with police, medical staff and bystanders during the assassination. Volumes 16-26 consisted of Commission exhibits.
10. When the report was published, how much did it cost to purchase the hard cover version?

Answer: $3.25

A paperback version was published simultaneously which cost $2.50. The 26 accompanying volumes retailed for $76.00, which is the equivalent of approximately $800 in 2026.
