1. In which year was Rosa born?

Answer: 1873

Rosa was born in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, England, on Tuesday, January 14th, 1873. Her actual birth name was Rhonda.
2. When did Rosa meet her husband?

Answer: 1894

Rosa met Stanton Abbott in Providence, Rhode Island, in 1894. They were married in 1895 and had two sons, Rossmore and Eugene.

In 1911, Rosa divorced her husband and returned to England with her sons. However, she soon became aware that her children were not happy and made arrangements to return to America in April 1912, booking third-class tickets for Titanic's maiden voyage.
3. Which of the following people did Rosa develop a friendship with whilst on board Titanic?

Answer: Amy Stanley, Emily Goldsmith and May Howard

Amy, Emily and May all had cabins close to where the Abbotts were staying.

All the people listed here were travelling in third class. Annie, Mary, Virginia, Karen, May, Emily and Amy all survived while Kristina, Ida, Aloisia, Honora and Manda perished.
4. Did Rosa's sons survive the sinking?

Answer: No

On April 24th, 1912, Rossmore Abbott's body was recovered by the Mackay-Bennett. He was buried at sea. Eugene's body was never found.

Rosa was one of only three people to survive exposure to the freezing water after Titanic sank and was the only woman. She was saved in Collapsible Lifeboat A along with three men, one of whom later died.

Answer: Seamstress

After having travelled to England in 1911 aboard Titanic's sister ship, the Olympic, Rosa began work as a seamstress. She also worked with the Salvation Army. Her older son, Rossmore, worked as a jeweller, while Eugene was a scholar.

Fellow third-class passenger, Miss Saiide Barbara, worked as a housekeeper. Saiide perished in the sinking.
9. While onboard Titanic, what did Rosa and her fellow third-class passengers do to keep themselves entertained?

Answer: Read books and play card games

Titanic's gymnasium, squash courts and swimming pool were only to be used by first-class passengers. Those travelling in third class had their own sitting room where they could read books, play card games and have parties.
10. Rosa died in 1946. What was her cause of death?

Answer: Hypertension

Rosa never completely recovered from the shock of the disaster. She died from hypertension (high blood pressure) on Monday, February 18th, 1946.

The only other Titanic survivor known to have died from hypertension is Fifth Officer Harold Lowe, who died on Friday, May 12th, 1944.
