1. What rock is Uluru or Ayers Rock (Australia) made of?

Uluru is a sandstone monilith measuring 384m high, rising 863m above sea level and with a total circumference of 9.4 km. Most of its bulk is lying underground. The word monolith is derived from Greek meaning "single stone". There are many monoliths around the world including Sugerloaf Mountain (Brazil), El Capitan (California, USA) and the Rock of Gibraltar.
