The high school requires Sheldon to take a swimming class, but he refuses to due to the amount of bacteria in the pool. To make matters worse, he has a nightmare about being eaten by a pool monster (portrayed by Kaley Cuoco, who also portrayed Penny on "The Big Bang Theory"). So, he lies and tells his mom that he's sick. She believes him because the neighbor Billy Sparks is also sick, and because Sheldon had no previous history of lying. Even though his siblings know he's lying, they don't tell their mom. His dad doesn't believe him either, but his mom overruled him. Eventually, Sheldon starts feeling guilty about lying to his mother. At first, he goes to visit Billy and touches him so he can really get sick. That doesn't work right away, and he has a fantasy that batman tells him to tell the truth. His mom forgives him, and he goes to school the next day.

After Dr. Sturgis goes into a mental hospital, and Mary sees her son behaving the same way Dr. Sturgis was the last time we saw him, Mary becomes concerned about Sheldon's mental health. She buys a book about children's mental health and she becomes even more concerned. She decides to drive Sheldon to school while Missy and Georgie ride with dad, so she can talk to her son about mental health. Sheldon believes that Mary is admitting to him that SHE is going crazy, so he gets a book from the school library about mental health. By reading the books they get, they both become increasingly concerned about each other's mental health. They end up having a conversation at night. It turns into a heated argument, to the point where Sheldon delivered one of my all-time favorite lines: "You talk to an invisible man in the sky who grants wishes! If anyone's mental it's you!" They go to a therapist, who convinces them to communicate. Mary admits that Dr. Sturgis is in a mental hospital and she is worried Sheldon will end up like him.

Mary loses her faith in God when a 16-year-old girl dies in a car accident. Pastor Jeff encourages her to start a new Bible study and start a new garden in their backyard. Mee Maw takes Mary out drinking. Neither of these things make Mary feel better. However, at night time, when Mary is sitting alone on the front porch, Sheldon tells her "There are 7 billion people in the world and you're the perfect mom for me. What are the odds of that?" This causes Mary to hug Sheldon and thank the lord for him (but not for her other children).

After Sheldon takes apart a refrigerator to stop it from making a buzzing sound, his father pays $200 to get it fixed and tells Sheldon that he needs to pay him back. The neighbor mom, Mrs. Sparks, offers Sheldon a job as a paper boy. Despite his mom's fear for his safety, Sheldon takes the job. The job turns out to be very stressful for him. The episode shows him struggling to move his bike with a heavy wagon full of newspapers attached to it, with an amusingly super-appropriate song playing meanwhile: Foghat's "Slow Ride." Problems he has include dogs, a bird on is bike, not being able to throw very well, getting ink on his hands, and the wind blowing Sheldon's bike downhill against his best efforts. To make matters worse, Mrs. Sparks doesn't pay him very well because he is late every day. In the end, he asks Billy to do all the work while Sheldon gets the money, and he eventually repays his dad.

Annoyed by a buzz in the fridge, Sheldon decided to disassemble the refrigerator to find it. The cost to put it back together was $200, and George made sure Sheldon knew he would need to pay it back. He asks Dr. Sturgis how to get radioactive material. Dr. Sturgis suggests getting smoke detectors and telling the companies that it's for a school project so he can get them for free. Sheldon does just that, but at the end of the episode, the FBI shows up to the house wearing hazmat suits.

Paige is about 3 weeks younger than Sheldon and she joins Dr. Sturgis's physics class in the middle of the semester. She is more advanced than Sheldon, and this makes Sheldon jealous. Dr. Sturgis decides to put the kids' parents in contact with each other. Mary then invited Paige and her parents over to to the Coopers' house. The parents hit it off because they have a lot in common. Paige, on the other hand, upsets Sheldon by bashing Professor Proton and infuriates him by beating him at chess. Mee Maw, who is dating Sturgis, tells him not to praise Paige so much in front of Sheldon. Georgie and Missy hang out with Paige's sister and they get along pretty well. Later on, Paige gets along better with Missy than with Sheldon due to similar interests and Paige's desire to be more like a normal kid. Paige's parents fight with each other and eventually get divorced.

Paige was a cute blonde girl about Sheldon's age who took Dr. Sturgis's class along with Sheldon. She was not only also a child prodigy, but also proved to be smarter than him, making her a threat to him. Regardless, they do spend a bit of time together both at the class, at a museum, and even at the Cooper house, where she also proves to be more like a regular child than Sheldon is. Paige, like Sheldon, has an older sibling (in her case, sister) who is more along the line of Georgie. Missy seems to like both girls, though. The other names are as follows: Bobbi is the name of Billy Sparks' little sister, who tormented Sheldon in a season 1 episode. Amy could be Amy Farrah Fowler, Sheldon's future wife. Denise is the girl who works at Stuart's comic book store in "The Big Bang Theory" who also dates him.

She confesses that she is jealous because she believes Pastor Jeff and Officer Robin are going to have the perfect wedding that she and George never had. Pastor Jeff decides he no longer wants her to plan their wedding.

When Sheldon finds out that Dr. Sturgis is in the hospital, he decides to skip his high school classes and hide in a broom closet in the library and read books to do some learning. His P.E. teacher, who is also his dad's co-worker, tells his dad that he hasn't been to class. His dad finds out from his friend, Tam, where he is. To solve the problem, Mee Maw lets Sheldon take Dr. Linkletter's class. Sheldon and Dr. Linkletter end up not liking each other at first, but then Sheldon wants to attend a lecture that Dr. Linkletter is giving. Sheldon's Mee Maw refuses to take him to the lecture because she knows Dr. Linkletter wants to use the opportunity to get to know her better and start a romantic relationship with her, and she doesn't want that. Sheldon, not understanding this, persists, but she keeps refusing. He then tells her that she's selfish. She spanks him. He then asks his parents to take them to the lecture. When they refuse, he calls them selfish, so they ground him. He ends up taking a bus to visit Dr. Sturgis, but leaves a note behind in Morse code. The family decodes the note, with Mee Maw being the first to figure it out, and they call the police. A police car pulls over the bus and they take Sheldon home. On the bus, a woman convinces Sheldon that he was wrong. So he shows his family a "Star Trek" episode to apologize. They don't understand the point, but eventually they accept the apology. Dr. Linkletter and Dr. Sturgis are enemies due to the fact that Dr. Linkletter wants a romantic relationship with Mee Maw, but Dr. Sturgis already has one. Dr. Linkletter pursues Mee Maw even while she's dating Dr. Sturgis, angering both of them. However, Dr. Linkletter has catually stood up for Dr. Sturgis at times. When Sheldon told Dr. Linkletter that Dr. Sturgis plagiarized his work, Dr. Linkletter sided with Dr. Sturgis. He didn't believe Sheldon provided sufficient evidence of plagiarism and he didn't want Dr. Sturgis's career ruined.

Dr. Sturgis gives Sheldon a 95% on a test. Sheldon disputes the wrong answer. This leads to the two of them arguing over the course of the whole episode. Eventually, Dr. Sturgis realizes that he was wrong. He confesses it to Mee Maw, telling her that he is declining with age. He admits it to Sheldon in the end and fixes the mistake, but tells Sheldon that he did it on purpose to teach Sheldon that being wrong isn't the end of the world. Adult Sheldon, narrating as a voice over, says that Dr. Sturgis was a wise man and if he's ever wrong, he'll admit it.

When Sheldon does the family's taxes, he notices that there's $300 missing. His dad refuses to tell him why there's $300 missing and asks him to keep a secret from his mom. This causes Sheldon a lot of stress and leads to medical problems. He decides to stay over at Tam's house so he can avoid his mom. Sheldon eventually confesses the secret to Tam, and this makes him feel better. He then convinces his dad to tell the secret. George Sr., Georgie Jr., and Mee Maw went to a bar together. Mee Maw got drunk so Georgie Jr. offered to drive home, even though he didn't have a license. They got pulled over, so Mee Maw switched places with Georgie to protect him from getting in trouble. Mee Maw got a DWI and went to jail and George Sr. bailed him out. Mary tells her husband and son to sleep at Mee Maw's house. Mee Maw gets revenge by calling Mary and telling her that her husband urinated on the church's vegetable garden.

The only person who made it to the heaven room in the house was Veronica Duncan, a promiscuous girl Sheldon was tutoring whom Georgie was making a move on. When they decided to go into the house, Veronica was so horrified by what she saw in the lust room she went to the heaven room whom and went from being a promiscuous bad girl to a born-again Christian. Regardless of this about-face, Georgie still had feelings for her, which often had him making a fool of himself and being threatened by her boyfriend. Despite all this, the two of them did become great friends.

Sheldon's father George is a football coach at the high school that Sheldon and Georgie attend. He died when Sheldon was 14, so we will never see him on "The Big Bang Theory," unless there's a flashback episode. In one episode of "Young Sheldon," George suffers a heart attack. Georgie steals his father's car and drives to whole family to the hospital, as they are worried that they may lose him. "Big Bang Theory" fans who know that Sheldon's father is dead on that show may have been worried that this was the episode that he dies. However, he recovers. George is played by Lance Barber. An odd fact is that Barber also played Jimmy Speckerman, Leonard's high school bully on "The Big Bang Theory." Fans are often confused by his two different roles on the related shows.

The opening sequence, which itself parodies "Walker, Texas Ranger", shows Sheldon standing in a field, but finds himself moving over a little when a cow approaches. Some openings also show a tumbleweed going by and him moving out of the way of it.

Answer: Paige

Paige I s a genius who Sheldon met in Dr. Sturgis's class in season two. Sheldon doesn't like her very much because she is smarter than him, but Dr. Sturgis told Mary about Paige. Mary then invites Paige to their house. We see Paige several times in season two. At first she likes Sheldon, but as time progresses she actually seems to like Missy more than she likes Sheldon. Meanwhile, her parents get divorced. In season three, due to her parents' divorce, Paige gives up on being a smart kid and decides to become a bad kid. She shoplifts body glitter and hides it in Sheldon's backpack. Sheldon gets mad (who wouldn't), but then he calls Dr. Sturgis and asks him for advice. Dr. Sturgis, telling Sheldon what he learned in the mental hospital, says that Sheldon should listen to Paige's problem. Sheldon does just that, and then he makes tea for Paige to help her feel better. This is the beginning of Sheldon's well-established custom of offering guests hot beverages when they are upset. Adult Sheldon, narrating, says that he tried to offer Amy a beverage while she was in labor. That turned out to be a bad idea.

Missy has a crush on a boy who likes baseball, so she asks her dad to teach her how to throw a baseball and to teach her some baseball facts. Her dad does just that, but when she finds out that the boy she liked already had a girlfriend, she throws an apple at him. She later shows off her throwing arm at a dunk tank, where she repeatedly dunks Pastor Jeff. After learning how good her throwing arm is, she asks her dad to put her in a baseball team. He tries, but the coach refuses to have a girl on his team. Mee Maw then tries to get her on the team. The coach agrees to let Missy on the baseball team only if Mee Maw dates him. Missy becomes the star player of the baseball team. Initially, she gets bullied by other people in the town for this. Not only do the boys bully her, but even other girls at school bully her for this. She intially decides to quit the baseball team, but when Mrs. Sparks joins in on the bullying, Mary demands that Missy keep playing baseball to prove them wrong. In the end, Missy stands up to one of the bullies (an opposing male pitcher who tried to hit her with the baseball). Later in the season, she reluctantly strikes out the boy she liked, but he holds her hand anyway, exciting her.

When Sheldon notices that the bread in his lunch doesn't taste as good as it usually does, he calls the bread company to complain. He finds out that the company has been bought out by a corporation that's determined to make the bread cheaper. He's told that the quality of the bread hasn't changed, but he knows he's being lied to. He tries to start a petition against the bread company. This catches the attention of the local TV newspeople. Unfortunately, Sheldon says that he admits that communism would solve the problem. This show takes place during the Cold War, so promoting communism caused the Coopers to be enemies of the whole town.

Dr. Sturgis recommends that the Coopers participate in a study comparing twins: in their case, Sheldon and Missy. Mary is reluctant because she's afraid it may upset the kids, but George like the money that the study pays, so they participate. The first test that they participate in is an analytics test. Sheldon aces this test. Missy does terribly. The second test is based on perceptiveness. Sheldon gives good answers, but the testing person is unimpressed. Missy aces this test. These tests prove that Sheldon is brilliant at math, science, accounting, and learning facts, but he struggles at understanding how other people are feeling, while Missy is the opposite. Missy tells the test person that the reason she is so perceptive is because she had to be because she was neglected, with her dad paying all the attention to Georgie and her mom and grandmother paying all the attention to Sheldon. The parents resolve the situation by giving Missy the choice of restaurant at the end of the episode.

In episode two of season one, Sheldon's mom says that she is worried that Sheldon has no friends. Missy overhears this and tells this to Sheldon. Sheldon, who previously had no interest in making friends decided to try to make a friend to please his mother. Upon the librarian's suggestion, Sheldon reads the book "How to Make Friends and Influence People." The book doesn't work, and it turns out the only people who read it were his teachers. However, as he returns the book, he meets Tam. They hit it off when they both learn that they both love science and have few friends. They were friends from the second episode to the end of season one. Tam introduced Sheldon to some of his favorite non-scientific activities, including comic books and Dungeons and Dragons.

At first, George tells Dr. Sturgis that he planned to go on a camping trip with Dale's current boyfriend and apologizes to Dr. Sturgis, but Dr. Sturgis says that he loves camping and would love to come along. George calls Dale and tells him that Dr. Sturgis wants to come along. Dale is surprised, but he agrees to let Dr. Sturgis come. When the Cooper family has dinner together, Georgie mentions to the family that they are going camping with Dr. Sturgis. Mee Maw, not previously knowing that Dr. Sturgis was going on the trip, gets angry. However, she then calls Dr. Sturgis and warns him not to get offended because Dale likes to insult people for fun. Dr. Sturgis promises he won't. However, on the camping trip, Dr. Sturgis turns out to be a better fisher than Dale. This, coupled with him knowing a lot of facts, makes Dale jealous and Dale confesses that George only invited Dr. Sturgis because he felt sorry for him. Dr. Sturgis gets upset and takes a bus home.

When Dr. Sturgis gets out of the hospital, he has dinner with the Coopers. Although Mary tells them not to bring up his time in the hospital, he tells them that he's happy to answer any questions they have about it, so Sheldon, Georgie, and Missy each ask one. The next day, Mary convinces George to take Dr. Sturgis to a bar. There, he buys drinks for everyone at the bar.
