31. Collecting items is a hallmark of the 'Banjo-Kazooie' series. In the first game, if there were no Mumbo Tokens, what wouldn't the protagonists, Banjo and Kazooie, be able to do?

From Quiz
The Less, The Better

Answer: Transform into various creatures

These Mumbo Tokens, small, skull-shaped, silver trinkets, are scattered across the worlds of Gruntilda's Lair, and are only used to purchase the various transformations offered by the shaman Mumbo Jumbo. In Mumbo's Mountain, handing over five tokens will result in a termite transformation; in Bubblegloop Swamp, ten tokens mean it's crocodile time; in Freezeezy Peak, fifteen tokens turns Banjo and Kazooie into a walrus; in Mad Monster Mansion, twenty tokens are needed to become a pumpkin; in Click Clock Wood, the final transformation is that of a bee, in exchange for twenty-five tokens.

33. Which video game ends when you retrieve the Super Happy Tree?

From Quiz Don't Stop Succeeding

Answer: Yoshi's Story

"Yoshi's Story", released in 1998, featured several differently coloured Yoshis on a quest to return their land back to normal after the evil Baby Bowser steals the Super Happy Tree. While most of the game really involves eating a bunch of fruit to proceed to new levels, you can also play the game for completion's sake and find hearts to unlock new levels, locate the Black and White Yoshis, and fight for high scores. The game ends and the story is complete when Baby Bowser is felled in the sixth and final stage, a castle level. "Yoshi's Story" was popular enough as an early Nintendo 64 title, earning a Player's Choice designation. Nonetheless it was panned by many critics for being way too simplistic in difficulty, style, and story.

34. Created by Quantic Dream, what 2010 PS3 exclusive involved a detective named Ethan Mars and a serial killer?

From Quiz Guess the Game!

Answer: Heavy Rain

"Heavy Rain" was criticized by more hardcore gamers due to the focus on video and story elements rather than game elements. Quantic Dream, the makers of "Heavy Rain", set out to make a dramatic game, though. They certainly succeeded. "Heavy Rain" followed several characters all influenced by the Origami Killer, a serial murderer who abducted children and drowned them. The player was able to take on several roles in the game in order to solve the mystery. Regardless of the approach to gameplay, "Heavy Rain" was a very popular game and it received critical acclaim from many gaming outlets. IGN and Gamespy awarded it 'PS3 Game of the Year'. Quantic Dream also created "Indigo prophecy" back in 2005.

35. Why, in 2010, did the video game "Call of Duty: Black Ops" cause some controversy in Cuba?

36. On "Mario Kart: Double Dash", what size kart do you get when you choose Bowser Jr. and Yoshi?

From Quiz Video Game Mania 2

Answer: Medium

"Standard" is the only one of these choices that is not a real weight class on "Mario Kart: Double Dash". "Mario Kart: Double Dash" is the Nintendo Gamecube release of the "Mario Kart" series. In accordance to kart size, your kart size is determined by the heaviest character you have selected. For example: if you choose Baby Mario (Light) and Mario (Medium), the minimum kart size is Medium, because Mario can't fit into a Light kart.

From Quiz Some Instructions Would Be Nice!

One of the best-selling titles on the Nintendo 64 console, "Mario Kart 64" was released in 1997 to many fans who hadn't seen a "Mario Kart" title since "Super Mario Kart" nearly five years earlier on the Super Nintendo. In addition, "Super Mario 64" was chock full of three-dimensional tracks in which players could experience realistic racing. It was one of the earliest instances of this type of game on the Nintendo 64 though it was soon followed by the generously-popular "Diddy Kong Racing" which spawned a number of Rare-related titles (ie. "Banjo-Kazooie", "Conker's Bad Fur Day", etc.). "Mario Kart 64" later appeared on the Wii Virtual Console in early 2007. Red Koopa Shells are one of the game's many power-ups. 51. This video game franchise has produced several mainstream titles for Nintendo since the mid-1980s, including "Majora's Mask", "The Wind Waker", and "Twilight Princess", among several others. What is the series?

From Quiz Video Game Subtitles

Answer: The Legend of Zelda

In 1986, "The Legend of Zelda" was first released in the United States for the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System). Ever since, the series has been a main staple for Nintendo consoles, with titles such as "A Link to the Past" for the Super NES, "Ocarina of Time" and "Majora's Mask" for the Nintendo 64, "The Wind Waker" for the GameCube, and "Twilight Princess" for the Wii.

52. The first gem takes us back to 1980. This little game was called "Warlords". It was like "Pong" but had a little twist. There were four players, all human or one human and A.I. What was the aim of the game?

From Quiz Forgotten Gems: A History of Forgotten Games

Answer: To destroy the opponent's forts

Featuring the gameplay styling of "Pong", "Warlords" was a largely overlooked gem of a game. It had four sides, each with its own little forts of blocks. The aim of the game was to guide a ball towards the opponent's forts using a paddle. The levels ended when all opponent's forts were breached. Subsequent levels became faster and exponentially more difficult. Very few people know about the game, but it is one of my favorite games of the early 1980s. Dust off that Atari and get playing!

53. Animals Nintendo's "Animal Crossing" released a Wii iteration in late 2008. What was this game subtitled?

From Quiz Video Games in Every Category

Answer: City Folk

"Animal Crossing: City Folk" was the first "Animal Crossing" console release since its debut on the Gamecube six years earlier. As it turned out, reception was mixed. While many thought it piqued the interests of gamers, it brought very little in terms of new content to the series. "City Folk" was well-known for being the first to use the Wii Speak feature to chat during the game. This innovative microphone feature is similar to those used on Xbox Live and PSN. "Animal Crossing" was one of the most popular titles on the Gamecube when it was initially released. Using its own constant clock, the game continues on with daily events even if the player doesn't load any info or play. In the game, the player is human, but he or she interacts with the animals that live in and operate the town of Animal Crossing. The game allows the player to interact and do tasks freely with no set, final goal. It's up to the player to determine how they want to live their lives in the game.

54. The characters are flat, the story is on paper, and Mario is back to beat Bowser. He collects seven stars and fights Bowser in space. Princess Peach bakes a cake. What game is this?

From Quiz Video Games. Simplified.

Answer: Paper Mario

Released on the Nintendo 64 in 2001, "Paper Mario", made by Intelligent Systems, follows cut-out versions of famous Mario characters as he travels across the Mushroom Kingdom's various 3D/paper worlds to save Princess Peach. The gameplay is turn-based in battle, but acts as a platformer on the surface as Mario navigates the various areas to find items, characters, and otherwise. Bowser's castle takes off into outer space with Peach's castle in tow, and Mario must return to Mushroom Kingdom, accumulate seven Star Spirits, and use the almighty Star Rod to beat Bowser in the end. This type of gameplay is featured in the sequel, "The Thousand Year Door" for the Gamecube (released in 2004). "Super Paper Mario", on the other hand, for the Wii, follows more of a traditional sidescroller format, but it uses the Wii's graphic and motion sensing capabilities to create an entirely new adventure.

60. #25-"Animal Crossing: Wild World" (DS) If you move into your village for the first time, assuming no one has lived there before, how many residents are there? (Hint: Think through this question carefully.)

From Quiz My 50th Quiz Part 2

Answer: 15

The fifteen are yourself, three randomly selected villagers, Pelly, Phyllis, Tortimer, Pete, Tom Nook, Sable, Mable, Blathers, Celeste, Brewster, and Mr. Resetti. "Animal Crossing: Wild World," was the DS version of the popular game "Animal Crossing," in which time takes real place in the game even if you're not there. The game took away some things of the original game but added some new things as well. The things that were taken away were the separation of acres, the town is now continuous. Also Wisp, the ghost who would appear late at night, disappears along with several other animals, such as Jingle the reindeer, who would appear on holidays. Also the island that appeared in "Animal Crossing" disappears. Some factors that were added were the inclusion of exclusive holidays rather than holidays mainly celebrated in the U.S.A. Also the watering can and slingshot were new tools to be added. The watering can was obviously used to water flowers while the slingshot could be used to shoot items out of the sky such as balloons carrying presents, Pete, and even a U.F.O. Also if you go to the museum, Celeste will let you create your own constellations and Brewster will sell you a cup of coffee for 200 Bells. Lyle, the insurance salesman appears to rip you off along with the old character Crazy Redd who now requires you to give a password to enter his tent and charges you 3,000 Bells to join his club to buy anything, including counterfeit paintings. Another new character is Pascal who is a philosophizing otter who will give you ship related merchandise if you hear him out. He may even give you a picture of himself or a golden axe if you give him a scallop, received from Tortimer. Speaking of pictures, if you are nice enough to a resident or if you complete a large trading cycle you can get pictures from animals which will up your points in the HRA (Happy Room Academy) scores. Other old characters such as Gracie, Wendell, Saharah, and Totakeke (K.K. Slider) reappear. This was one of the three games to spur off the Wi-Fi Connection of the DS, which is now available in several DS and Wii games.
