Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Black, warm, bleeding, and cold.

Answer: Heart

Someone who has "a black heart" is thought of as being cruel or mean spirited.

Someone with "a warm heart" is thought of as being kind and affectionate.

A person described as "a bleeding heart" is thought of as excessively soft-hearted, sympathetic, or liberal.

Detached and uncaring are words used to describe a person with "a cold heart".
2. Side, long, rocker, and yard.

Answer: Arm

A "side arm" is pistol and "a long arm" is a rifle.

A "rocker arm" is a part of an engine; and "a yard arm" is part of a masted sailing vessel.
3. Wooden, broken, long, and square.

Answer: Leg

A "wooden leg" is an artificial limb and a "broken leg" is a painful injury.

"Long leg" and "square leg" are places adopted by fielders in the game of cricket.
4. Fore, back, under, and upper.

Answer: Hand

Fore hand and back hand (sometimes used as one word) describe shots that are played in racquet sports and in sports such as lawn bowls. On the forehand the front of a player's hand is towards the ball and in backhand the back of the hand is towards the ball at the point of contact.

A person who is very strong on forehand can quickly get the upper hand - an advantage - over a lesser player. Unless, of course, a lesser player cheats, that would be underhand.
5. Lazy, red, cat's, and blind.

Answer: Eye

A lazy eye is a term for underdeveloped sight in one eye, particularly in children.

A red eye occurs when the white of an eye become bloodshot.

A cat's eye is a small device that reflects the headlights of motor vehicles on a road at night.

If you do not like the interesting information in this quiz you can turn a blind eye and ignore it.
6. Deaf, pierced, cauliflower, and ringing

Answer: Ear

If you turn a blind eye to seeing something you don't like, then you can turn a deaf ear to hearing it as well.

If you like your deaf ear decorated, trying piercing a small hole into it and inserting a piece of jewellery.

If you have ringing in your ear, then it is probably tinnitus. That is often caused by prolonged exposure to loud noises or music. I asked my Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) consultant if he could do anything about my tinnitus. He just looked at me and said "sorry, no."
7. Bare, big, wrong, and cloven.

Answer: Foot

Don't we all like to kick off our shoes and socks and run bare foot in the sand? Unless it is in certain mountainous areas of the world where the fearsome wild creature known as Bigfoot lurks. (Allegedly.)

This quiz is a brain teaser; I hope you haven't been wrong-footed because you thought it was something else.

If the bare foot you tread into the sand is cloven, then you are probably a sheep, goat, cow, pig, or any number of other animals.
8. Spare, barbecued, broken, and cracked

Answer: Rib

While it is nice to think that Adam had a spare rib and gave it up for God to create Eve, the origin of "spare rib" is more mundane. We can thank the Germans for that. It comes from the German word "Rippenspeer ", literally "spear rib". This came about because a meaty rib was traditionally cooked over an open fire on a spear.

Isn't every day a school day on funtrivia.com?

Of course when you have a meaty rib you can always barbecue it.

Talking of ribs, if you hear something that is funny that could be a rib tickler. Don't laugh too hard or you could end up with a broken or cracked rib.
9. Blonde, brunette, chest, or red

Answer: Hair

The average human can grow hair at a rate of about six inches a year.

Looking at head colours, about 11 per cent of the world's population has brunette hair; three per cent blonde/blond; and two per cent red.

That figure for hair growth applies to head hair, obviously.
10. Celestial, human, wide, and governing

Answer: Body

So we get to the theme of the answers to this quiz - body parts.

They belong to the overall human body.

We also talk about a star being a celestial body; a passenger jet having a wide body, and schools and churches, for example, having a governing body to keep every body (pun intended) in check.
