Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Eddie Izzard's first recorded stand-up act was "Glorious." True or false?

Answer: False

Though perhaps the first widely available recorded performance in America, "Glorious" was actually Eddie's fourth recorded performance (that I am aware of). "Live at the Ambassadors" was his first.
2. Finish this quote from "Dress to Kill": "Is this Plymouth? We've just come from Plymouth! We've gone 'round in a circle, lads, ____!"

Answer: back on the boat

This is from the bit that Eddie does about the Pilgrims' arrival in America.
3. The name of Eddie's production company is:

Answer: Ella Communications

Eddie's company is named for his late mother, Ella, who passed away when he was six.
4. Eddie's jacket in "Definite Article" is blue. True or false?

Answer: False

His jacket in "Definite Article" is an orange-ish Jean-Paul Gaultier number, and loses a button at some point during the performance. Apparently, Eddie puts it back on again, working that into his act. Such is his talent for improvisation.
5. In "Glorious," Eddie says that (in regards to taxidermy), he wants to fill a rat with:

Answer: the entire Gobi Desert

During this part of the show, Eddie talks about careers that one cannot just fall into. Taxidermy, as well as bee-keeping, are among them.
6. Which is NOT one of the many topics Eddie Izzard covers in "Dress to Kill?"

Answer: Robin Hood

If you can believe it, the material in "Dress to Kill" does indeed cover all the aforementioned topics, except Robin Hood, which Eddie deals with, at length, in "Glorious." Of course.
7. Eddie Izzard appears partially nude in the film, "Circus." True or false?

Answer: True

The scene takes place at a nude beach. Although the clip of Eddie emerging from the water is full-frontal, it is shot from far away, maintaining the film's R rating.
8. The line, "Can't come in to work... got scurvy" is from "Glorious." True or false?

Answer: False

This quote comes from his show, "Definite Article."
9. Finish this quote from "Live At the Ambassadors": "Come here, you lovely____."

Answer: panda

Another random quote from an Eddie show that when taken out of context, seems to make no sense. But when woven into the fabric of his act, it becomes quite humorous.
10. In "The Cat's Meow," Eddie portrays which actor?

Answer: Charlie Chaplin

According to Eddie Izzard, his portrayal was based on the "essence" of Charlie Chaplin, as he says he does not resemble him physically.
11. Finish this quote from "Dress to Kill": "It's just the rebels, sir. They're here." "My God, man! Do they _______?"

Answer: want tea

Eddie is discussing that the Death Star in "Star Wars" was full of British actors.
12. Eddie does a portion of the show "Dress to Kill" (the American version) in French. True or false?

Answer: True

By the time he gets around to doing part of the show in French, he has already done most of it in English, so it's relatively easy to figure out what he is saying and laugh at it all over again.
13. When God (Eddie as James Mason) asks Noah (Eddie as Sean Connery) to build him an ark, Noah says that he's building a:

Answer: speedboat

This is another one of Eddie Izzard's complex multi-character scenarios, requiring that he imitate several different people, often confusing even himself.
14. In "Glorious," Eddie says that over the horizon, there is a waterfall with a cave underneath it. According to Eddie, who or what is in that cave?

Answer: Daniel Day Lewis and a load of Mohicans

This was one of the most hilarious parts of the show, in my opinion. Eddie, however, seemed to think he'd "lost everyone."
15. In "Glorious," Eddie says that the Greek warrior Achilles (with the exception of his heel) was filled with what?

Answer: Potpourri

Eddie also suggests that Achilles might have been better off riding around on a vacuum cleaner or a block of concrete with wheels.
