Taking nothing away from the other actors, many believe that Patrick Stewart was the most multi-faceted actor to portray a major "Star Trek" character in any of Trek's incarnations. His extremely diverse resume includes about 30 years of Shakespeare's complex characters.

As Captain Jean-Luc Picard in "Star Trek - The Next Generation", he would implement his crew members' good ideas with the command, "Make it so.". From the very first episode when the characters all met, Stewart's Picard referred to his first officer, Commander Will Riker (portrayed by Jonathan Frakes), as "Number One." Stewart began losing his hair at age 19.

The bald Telly Savalas was TV's "Kojak" in the 70's. A (sometimes) shaven Avery Brooks portrayed the moody Capt. Sisko in "Star Trek - Deep Space Nine". Daniel Jones is fictitious.

The bald-headed Yul Brynner earned an Academy Award for Best Actor in the 1956 musical "The King and I" as the progressive, but stubborn King of Siam. Brynner was cast opposite Deborah Kerr as the equally strong-willed English teacher Anna Leonowens. Brynner also enjoyed a lengthy career portraying The King on the stage. Brynner died of lung cancer in 1985.

Although he was adamant that his fans not be told of the severity of his illness at the time, perhaps you remember his dramatic anti-smoking public service announcement recorded shortly before his death. Alfred Hitchcock was the king of 50's & 60's suspense movies. Although "Simpsons" quizzes are common... a quiz about baldness would not be complete without mentioning Homer. Born in Chicago in 1958, Dan Castellenata has supplied Homer's voice since "The Simpsons" debuted. Castellenata also provides the voices of Krusty the Clown, Grampa "Abe" Simpson, Barney Gumbel, Mayor Quimby, Groundskeeper Willie and many others.

The band Smashing Pumpkins was considered by many to be way ahead of its time in the late 80's and throughout the 90's. The band members were lead singer Billy Corgan, bassist D'arcy Gretzky, guitarist James Iha and drummer Jimmy Chamberlain. The band members went their separate ways around 2000.

As of 2003, Corgan is the leader of the band "Zwan". Mike Edwards is the lead singer and guitarist for the band Jesus Jones and is not bald. Bono is the frontman for the Irish band U2 . Winston McCaskill is fictitious.

Mahatma Gandhi was the hairless champion of a nonviolent campaign toward a free and independent India. Dwight D. Eisenhower was the 34th US President. Winston Churchill was the British Prime Minister during WWII. King Mongkut (Rama IV) was the King of Siam in the aforementioned "The King And I". All 4 choices were bald men.

In the "Star Trek" universe, the Deltans are a highly intelligent race bestowed with ESP. They are also completely bald, although they still sport eyebrows and eyelashes. Albeit completely bald, Lt. Ilia is a stunningly beautiful woman. Much of the culture on Ilia's planet, 114-Delta V, revolves around sex. Sex is a part of virtually all relationships and socialization among her people. Since this social pattern is not the case among humans and the others in the crew, she has taken a vow of celibacy, much to the chagrin of her old flame, the testosterone-driven Commodore Will Dekker, also stationed aboard the Enterprise in "Star Trek - The Motion Picture." Following the song, O'Conner uttered the words, "Fight the real enemy.", then held up an 8 X 10 photo of Pope John Paul II and ripped it in two.

The usually raucous Saturday Night Live audience was stunned. They did not applaud and remained dead silent until the network broke for commercial a moment later.

The next month, O'Conner was booed off the stage at a Bob Dylan tribute concert.
