Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Now, Lyle Lovett is a great singer and even a good actor. Still, when news of his first marriage came out, some people were just a bit shocked. Was it his hair? After all, the bride was a very pretty woman. Who was she?

Answer: Julia Roberts

In June 1993, film star Julia Roberts married country singer Lyle Lovett, after having known him for a very short time. They were married for 21 months. Julia has since married Danny Moder, a cameraman she met while filming "The Mexican" in 2000. Julia Roberts is an Oscar-winner, for the 2000 film "Erin Brockovich".
2. This one is from way back. Frank Sinatra had been married twice before, it was the swingin' sixties and he was the biggest swinger. So when he married this actress, it was a surprise, not to mention that he was about thirty years older than his bride. Who was she?

Answer: Mia Farrow

The couple were married in July 1966 when Mia was 21 years old, and just embarking on a career in films. In an interview with Esquire magazine, Farrow said "What I will tell you is that he (Sinatra) was the coolest, handsomest, sexiest guy. I don't think there are many women of any age who could have resisted him." Sinatra was one of the finest and best-known singers in popular music history, as well as an Academy Award-winning actor - "From Here to Eternity" in 1953. Mia Farrow has starred in 1968's "Rosemary's Baby", 1985's "Hannah and Her Sisters" and "The Purple Rose of Cairo" (1987).
3. Angelina Jolie had been married once before when she met her second husband -they were co-starring in a 2000 film called "Pushing Tin" at the time. He was twenty years her senior, and had already been married four times. Who was Angelina's second husband?

Answer: Billy Bob Thornton

Actors Angelina and Billy Bob were married in Las Vegas in a simple ceremony. She had Billy Bob's name tattooed on her arm. Thornton won an Oscar for Best Writing for "Sling Blade" (1996), for which he was also nominated for Best Actor. After three years they divorced. Oscar-winner Jolie (for "Girl, Interrupted" 1999) has since adopted three children and has a child with her partner, Brad Pitt.
4. For many years, Jane Fonda earned her reputation as an anti-establishment rebel. She had been married and divorced twice. So it was a bit surprising to hear that her third marriage was to a multimillionaire, founder of some enormously successful cable networks. Who was Jane Fonda's third husband?

Answer: Ted Turner

Jane Fonda and Ted Turner have since divorced. Ted Turner founded cable networks CNN, TBS, and TNT, has been a major philanthropist for environmental and other causes and also the largest private landholder in the United States. Jane Fonda is a two-time Oscar winner and - in my opinion - one of the great film actresses.

She won for "Klute" (1971) and "Coming Home" (1978). She had been previously married to director Roger Vadim and activist and politician Tom Hayden.
5. David Gest was a television producer who also appeared on reality TV. In 2002, he was married to a famous actress and entertainer, whose parents were show business legends in their own right. The marriage was short-lived, the divorce particularly ugly. Which lady was married to Mr. Gest?

Answer: Liza Minnelli

Oscar, Emmy, Grammy and Tony award winner Liza Minnelli is the daughter of the great star Judy Garland and famous film director Vincente Minnelli. She won her Oscar for "Cabaret"(1972), the Emmy for "Liza With a Z"(1972), three Tonys for Broadway performances and the 1989 Grammy Legend Award. Liza's marriage to David Gest lasted less than a year.
6. Elizabeth Taylor had been married quite a few times, to several different types of men. One of the most unexpected of her marriages was to a Republican politician who would become a United States senator. Which Senator became Elizabeth's sixth husband?

Answer: John Warner

It was interesting to see Elizabeth Taylor in the role of politician's dutiful wife, accompanying him on the campaign trail. The marriage lasted six years. She said that once Warner was elected to the Senate she "lost her sense of self-worth". She had pretty much given up acting by then, after a long career as a film star, and an Oscar for "Butterfield 8" in 1960. Elizabeth Taylor has been married eight times, but since she married Richard Burton twice, she's only had seven husbands.
7. Marilyn Monroe had been married to a cop, and then to a legendary baseball player. Her third husband was a playwright and intellectual, and they did seem mismatched. Who was he?

Answer: Arthur Miller

Marilyn married Arthur Miller, author of "The Crucible" and "Death of a Salesman" in 1956; they were divorced in 1961. Marilyn was the famed sex symbol in films in the 1950s and '60s, and she made some great films including 1955's "The Seven Year Itch", "Bus Stop" (1956) and "Some Like It Hot" in 1959. She died in 1962, of "acute barbiturate poisoning", at age 36.
8. Model and actress Anna Nicole Smith had been working at a Texas strip club when she met J. Howard Marshall. He was a very wealthy oilman, many years her senior. In June 1994, Smith and Marshall were wed. Both have since died.

Answer: True

They married after a two-year relationship. Marshall died in August 1995, just thirteen months after they were married. A dispute broke out between Anna Nicole and Marshall's son E. Pierce Marshall over the 1.6 billion dollar estate. The inheritance battle was still playing out in the courts when E. Pierce Marshall died in 2006. On February 8, 2007, Anna Nicole Smith also died, of a lethal combination of prescription drugs.

The fight for J. Howard Marshall's money has continued, between his remaining family and the people who represent Anna Nicole's baby daughter.
9. No list of weird couples would be complete without Woody Allen and his bride Soon-Yi. Woody and Soon-Yi's mother were an item for a long time, until the mother discovered that her boyfriend (Allen) and her adopted daughter (Soon-Yi) were having an affair. Which well-known actress is Soon-Yi's mother?

Answer: Mia Farrow

So Mia Farrow is the answer to two questions in this quiz. Woody Allen and Soon-Yi Previn were married in 1997 in Venice. They have two adopted children. Woody Allen is the writer and director of "Annie Hall" (1977), "Manhattan" (1979) and "Radio Days"(1987), among many other fine films.
10. Now for the strangest celebrity couple ever. That's right, it's Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley. It was a surprise to the world when their marriage was announced. The couple were married in a lavish ceremony at Jackson's Neverland Ranch.

Answer: False

Lisa Marie Presley and Michael Jackson were married on May 26, 1994, in a secret ceremony in the Dominican Republic. They were divorced on January 18, 1996 due to "irreconcilable differences". Lisa Marie is a musician and the daughter of Elvis Presley, and singer Michael Jackson was the King of Pop, enormously popular since he was a child performer.

His great 1982 album "Thriller" is one of the top-selling albums of all time.
