1. What profession are the Stooges in this episode?

Answer: Sailors

They are sailors from "Garbage Scow 188" who become stranded on Dead Man's Island. The island's governor remarks how that is an odd name for a vessel. This short was made in December, 1946. It was the last "Three Stooges" episode in which Curly Howard was involved in the entire production.

He was left out of the final scenes of the next Stooges project, "Half-Wits Holiday", after he suffered a debilitating stroke.

2. What is the name of the girl who tries to help them escape?

Answer: Rita Yolanda

Rita is betrothed to the governor and wants to escape "this accursed island". She bribes the guards in an effort to help them escape. Rita is played by Stooges' regular Christine McIntyre. Christine received a Bachelor of Music degree at Chicago Musical College and was in many Stooges episodes. She outlived all of them, passing in 1984.

3. When the governor asks the boys how they want to die, what does Curly reply?

Answer: To be burned at the stake

Larry asks to be able to die of old age. Curly replies that "a hot stake is better than a cold chop". The governor is played by Stooges' regular Vernon Dent. Vernon was born on February 16, 1895 in San Jose, California. Before entering motion pictures in 1919 he was an accomplished song writer.

4. When the boys are trying to hammer their way out of the cell, which wall does Rita tell them leads to the outside?

Answer: The west wall

When she tells them to go out the west wall they all repeat her instructions in unison. Then they take some tools from under the bedspread and start trying to hammer their way out. Of course, they pick the wrong wall and end up right back in the cell.

5. When they can't hammer their way out of their cell, they dress up as wayfarers and offer the governor gifts. Which of the following is one of the gifts?

Answer: A lollipop

When Curly takes out a heart shaped lollipop from his robe the governor believes it is the ruby de lollipopskia. Curly also produces a pen that the governor mistakes for the tusk of a black walrus. Moe does say "he had some bubble gum but I think he swallowed it." When they offer to go find some babes the governor lets them go.

6. What does Moe call Curly when they're leaving the governor's mansion?

Answer: A Flatbush flathead

Because their garbage scow is from New York he calls him a Flatbush flathead. The Maharaja routine is a classic. The language that Moe and Curly speak is a language that they made up when they were children. The nearsighted glasses gag was also used in "Corny Casanovas" and "The Tooth Will Out". The Maha routine was previously used in their 1941 feature titled "Time Out For Rhythm".

They go to the den of Black Louie. Unfortunately Black Louie is a friend of the governor and the governor directs him to give the boys "a warm reception".

When Larry tilts the game of skill machine it flashes "Ye Olde Tilt". A large hammer then comes down and hits him on the head.

Black Louie grabs Larry and forces him to be a target. When near-sighted Curly throws the knives they end up hitting the wall, a bystander, the chandelier and a picture frame.

10. What does Moe use to bash the pirates during the fight finale?

Answer: A clock pendulum

Moe grabs the large pendulum from the clock on the wall, sits inside the fake picture frame and conks out the pirates that come hear him. When the fight is over the boys and Rita want to flee, but Moe wants to stay and become the emperor of Dead Man's Island because he captured the joint.
