Joan Fontaine starred in "A Damsel in Distress" a Fred Astaire film, but the role was changed as her dancing was not good enough.

"The Red Shoes" followed the career of Vicky Page, played by actress and dancer Moira Shearer, from the time she was taken under the wing of ruthless ballet impresario Boris Lermontov, played by Anton Walbrook. Marius Goring played her lover, Julian Craster, who tried to keep Vicky away from Lermontov when he saw how hard he was driving her.
