Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
Answer:

Ariann Black, David Copperfield and Misty Lee are real life stage magicians. The rest of the magicians are fictional.

Ariann Black is Canadian, is based in Las Vegas and was voted Female Magician of the Year in 2004; her shows include 'Black Magic' and 'Secrets', and she got her big break working at the Trump Plaza in New York.

David Copperfield is American, and his stunts include escaping from Alcatraz and making the Statue of Liberty disappear. He bought a series of islands in the Bahamas and renamed them to the Islands of Copperfield Bay.

Misty Lee is also American, and is a voice actress and comedian as well as a magician. She originally trained as a dentist. She was the first female magician to be a Séance Medium at the Magic Castle. She has appeared in various video games, such as 'BioShock Infinite' and 'Fire Emblem'.

George Oscar Bluth II (Will Arnett) is a character from 'Arrested Development'. He is known by his nickname 'Gob' and is the oldest of the Bluth children. He is an unsuccessful stage magician whose tricks often fail, and is mistreated by both his parents.

Quentin Coldwater and Alice Quinn are characters from 'The Magicians' by Lev Grossman, who study magic at the Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy. Quentin is the main character and a fan of a series of books about a magical land called Fillory, based on Narnia, which turns out to be real. Alice is Quentin's love interest and the daughter of a couple of magicians. A TV adaptation was made in 2015 with Jason Ralph as Quentin and Olivia Taylor Dudley as Alice.

Patrick Jane (Simon Baker) is the main character of 'The Mentalist'. Despite being a fake medium, he uses his knowledge of human behaviour and psychology to assist the FBI and their California offshoot with investigations. He is obsessed with hunting down Red John, a serial killer who murdered his wife and daughter.

Andrew Ketterley is the titular magician in CS Lewis' 'The Magician's Nephew', the prequel to 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe'. He is Digory Kirke's uncle, claims to be a descendant of Morgan Le Fay and is interested in the occult, and develops magic rings that can transport people between worlds. He has a crush on Jadis, the empress of Charn who later becomes the White Witch, and is present at the birth of Narnia when Aslan sings it to life; the talking animals mistake him for a tree and try to plant him.

Morgan Le Fay, also known as Morgana, is a witch who appears in Arthurian legend; in some versions, she is Arthur's sister, while in others, she is Merlin's sister, and has been portrayed as both good and evil. She is sometimes merged with Nimue, the Lady of the Lake, or her sister Morgause, the mother of Mordred (who kills Arthur at the Battle of Camlann). She also appears in Marvel comics as a supervillain, and in the Japanese video game 'Fate/Grand Order' - which features several Arthurian legend characters - as the leader of the fairies.

Zatanna is a DC superhero and sorceress who belongs to the Homo Magi, a tribe of humans from Atlantis with magical powers. She often wears the outfit of a stage magician, with a top hat and tails, and performs magic by reciting spells backwards. She is also a skilled escape artist and tarot reader.

As for our doctors: Dr Jonathan Crane, aka the Scarecrow, is from the 'Batman' comics and uses 'fear gas' to induce fear in his victims. Dr Beverley Crusher (Gates McFadden) is the ship's doctor in 'Star Trek: The New Generation', and the mother of Ensign Wesley Crusher. The cantankerous Dr Gregory House (Hugh Laurie) is the titular character of 'House', while teen prodigy Doogie Howser (Neil Patrick Harris) is the star of 'Doogie Howser M.D.'. Dr Michaela Quinn (Jane Seymour), a doctor practising in 19th century Colorado, is the titular Dr Quinn of 'Dr Quinn, Medicine Woman'.
