After it was deemed that Doink's pranks were to cruel and may turn away younger viewers he became a face. Doink has been played by numerous wrestlers including Matt Borne, Ray Apollo, amd Steve Keirn.
2. Who was "The Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase's bodyguard Virgil named after?

Answer: The American Dream Dusty Rhodes

The character of Virgil was named after The American Dream Dusty Rhodes whose real name is Virgil Runnels, Jr. Bobby Heenan came up with the idea as a jab on Rhodes who was working for WCW at the time. Virgil Earp is the older brother of famous lawman Wyatt Earp and Gus Grissom is a famous astronaut.
3. How did Crush become the third member of Demolition?

Answer: Ax developed an illness that put him out of action so Vince McMahon wanted long-term coverage for the abscence

Bill Eadie who portrayed Ax developed an allergy to shellfish possibly from trips to Japan and required hospitalization. WWE owner Vince McMahon wanted someone to stand in for Ax in case he would be out of action on a long-term basis. Enter Brian Adams who portrayed Crush and the rest is history.

After Akio Sato left the US wrestling scene in the early '90s the WWE decided to reunite the former AWA tag team known as Badd Company under the name of The New Orient Express. Badd Company consisted of Pat Tanaka and Paul Diamond. TO hide the fact that Diamond was not Asian he wore a mask.

Al Sarven's character of Leif Cassidy of New Rockers fame was derived from '70s icons Leif Garrett and Shaun Cassidy. David is Shaun's brother and Ted Cassidy played Lurch on the Addams Family. Leif Ericson was a famous Viking and Butch Cassidy was a famous bank robber.

Waylon Mercy portrayed by Dan Spivey was based on Robert DeNiro's portrayal of the character Max Cady from the film Cape Fear. Robert Mitchum portrayed Max Cady in the 1962 original.
9. Why did Owen hart start his WWE career wrestling under a mask as The Blue Blazer?

Answer: To distinguish him from his brother

Instead of promoting him as Bret Hart's younger brother the WWE decided to create a superhero gimmick for Owen so he would not be in his brothers shadow. The gimmick never took off and Owen eventually returned to the WWE wrestling under his given name.
10. How did former WWE wrestler Wildman Marc Mero get his Johnny B. Badd gimmick?

Answer: Dusty Rhodes gave it to him

After jobbing in WCW for several months, Dusty Rhodes repackaged Mero as Johnny B. Badd in a nod to the Chuck Berry song Johnny B. Goode. He was also given a flamboyant Little Richard look as well.
