Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Hulk Hogan's famous ring entrances in the "Hulkamania" years involved him ripping off a T-shirt and tossing it to the crowd. But when he wrestled as a heel (bad guy) in the early 80s, his attire was a little different. What did he wear to the ring then?

Answer: A cape

His capes were usually coordinated to match manager Freddie Blassy's shiny outfits.
2. Only one WWE Intercontinental Champion between 1980 and 1986 did not hold the title twice. Who was it?

Answer: Greg Valentine

Valentine held the belt only once, winning it from Tito Santana on September 24, 1984, and then losing it back to him on July 6, 1985, in the first ever Steel Cage Match to result in a title change. Their feud stands out as one of the most intense and best worked of the many great Intercontinental Title feuds of the 80s.
3. Before Bret Hart teamed up with Jim Neidhart to form the Hart Foundation, he had a short and, mostly forgettable, run as a singles wrestler in 84-85. Nevertheless, his debut match in the WWE was as part of a tag team. Who was his partner?

Answer: Dynamite Kid

Dynamite Kid and Bret Hart entered the WWE together when it acquired Calgary based Stampede Wrestling, where they had both wrestled and feuded with each other for years.
4. King Kong Bundy broke an "official" WWE record for winning a match in the shortest amount of time when he squashed SD Jones at the original "Wrestlemania". Who managed Bundy at this time?

Answer: Jimmy Hart

Bundy is better remembered as a core member of the Heenan family, which he joined shortly after "Wrestlemania".
5. The word "screwjob" worked its way into wrestling vernacular following "The Montreal Screwjob", when Bret Hart was deceived into losing the WWE Heavyweight Championship to Shawn Michaels. Since then, another match that happened over a decade earlier and that unfolded in a similar way has become known as "The Original Screwjob". Who lost that match?

Answer: Wendy Richter

Richter was in the midst of negotiating a new contract with Vince McMahon and was booked to successfully defend the Women's Championship against a masked wrestler called The Spider on November 25, 1985, at Madison Square Garden. Instead she found herself wrestling The Fabulous Moolah who was wearing the Spider's ring disguise. Richter was put into a small package during the match, which she easily kicked out of after a one count, but the referee counted a quick three and Richter lost the match and the title.

It would be her last match with the WWE.
6. What was the name of the talk segment hosted by Adrian Adonis on the program "Superstars of Wrestling"?

Answer: The Flower Shop

Adonis had recently taken on the "adorable" gimmick. He was a great heel but a horrible cross-dresser.
7. Hulk Hogan and Paul Orndorff topped the card in the summer of 1986 at "The Big Event", which set a new WWE attendance record. Where was "The Big Event" held?

Answer: Exhibition Stadium in Toronto

The event was held at the stadium because the WWE's regular Toronto venue, Maple Leaf Gardens, was already booked. The card was stacked; other notable matches being Ricky Steamboat vs Jake Roberts, Junkyard Dog vs Adrian Adonis and Bobby Heenan, King Kong Bundy and "Big" John Stud vs Captain Lou Albano and the Machines.

The new record of 74,000 fans would be broken less than a year later at "Wrestlemania 3".
8. Pro-wrestling legend Terry Funk had a short, but memorable run, in the WWE in the mid 80s. What did he do to punish opponents after beating them?

Answer: He branded them with a branding iron.

It was mostly jobbers who got branded.
9. The Ultimate Warrior was first introduced to the wider WWE audience in October of 1987, when he wrestled in, and won, his first televised match. He had, however, already been wrestling in non televised WWE matches for several months. What name had he been wrestling under?

Answer: The Dingo Warrior

The Dingo Warrior was the name he had been using in his previous run with rival promotion WCCW, and he continued using it when he began wrestling with the WWE. The bookers, however, were uncomfortable with the sound of the name and it was changed to The Ultimate Warrior in time for his television debut.
10. Who were The Young Stallions?

Answer: Paul Roma and Jim Powers

They wrestled near the bottom of the card and never really challenged for the title, but doggone it, people liked them!
