PC Murdoch often catches Wullie up to mischief; although he tells him off, he always lets him off with a smile and a wink.

All three are in Wullie's little gang; although they fall out and squabble they are always friends again in the end.

It is well known throughout the town that Wullie can tell when it is dinnertime because his stomach rumbles.

Tackety boots are boots with tacks in the soles. Wullie would never wear anything but his tackety boots, even when his Ma tries to throw his old ones out as they are worn though.
