Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I was one of the biggest animals in the sea and I loved swimming in the water God made. I can blow water out of my spout when I breathe. What am I?

Answer: a whale

I am a whale! You may not have expected to find me in the first chapter of the Bible but I was one of the first animals God made! God made me on the fifth day of creation and he sure had an imagination. God made the whales and fish the same day he made the birds, which is really neat! We were really special to be the first creatures God made in his brand new world. Later on the sixth day of creation God made more interesting animals that live on land such as cows! On the sixth day of creation he also made man, and the first man, Adam, named us all! Adam had lots of naming to do because there were so many animals, but we got to enjoy the world with him. (This story can be found in the first chapter of Genesis.)
2. I was an animal Noah sent out to see if there was any land after God flooded the earth. I fly, am white and I am usually a symbol of peace! What am I?

Answer: a dove

I am a dove! My animal friends and I would have drowned had Noah not pleased God! God was so sad at all the evil things people were doing, that he wanted to wipe them out! Noah served God though faithfully even when he was the only one. God told him to build the ark and when the waters flooded the earth two of every animal on earth were saved! When the rain stopped I was one of the birds Noah sent out to fly out to see if there was any land.

When Noah sent me out the first time, I couldn't find anywhere to rest and came back to him. Noah sent me out again seven days later and I came back with an olive branch.

This let Noah know that the waters were going down and there was land. When Noah sent me out one final time and I didn't come back, God told Noah it was safe to leave the ark. Noah built an altar to God to give thanks and God was so pleased he put a rainbow in the sky, promising never to destroy the world with water again! (The story can be found in Genesis 8.)
3. I was a sacrificed in the place of Abraham's son. I have horns, am short, and have wool. What am I?

Answer: a ram

I am a ram! God had told Abraham to kill his only son Isaac. I'm sure Isaac was scared when he asked his dad why he was being tied up and laid on an altar with firewood. When God saw that Abraham was willing to offer his only son Isaac because he loved God so much, God told Abraham not to kill his son and pointed Abraham's attention to me in the bushes. Oh, how I wished I had not have gotten my horns stuck! Abraham offered me instead of Isaac and gave God thanks. Because Abraham had obeyed God, God promised to bless him with so many descendants that they would be as the stars of the sky and the sand of the sea. That's a ton of relatives! (This story can be found in Genesis 22.)
4. I was one of the plagues God sent to Pharaoh. I'm green, like to hop, and say 'ribbit'! What am I?

Answer: a frog

I am a frog! I was one of the plagues God put on Egypt when Pharaoh would not let God's people go with Moses. Ordinarily I probably wouldn't seem like a mean creature, but because Pharaoh would not listen to God, God sent frogs into his bed, his food, his kitchens, and even into his servant's houses. Pharaoh had frogs everywhere! He was so frustrated he begged Moses to take the frogs away and he promised he would let God's people, the Israelites go and serve God. Moses and God told all the frogs to go home and we did. Unfortunately Pharaoh changed his mind so God had to send a few more animals and bad things before the Israelites truly got to leave Egypt.

However I sure had fun in the palace while it lasted! Not every frog gets to live with the king in their lifetime! (This story can be found in Exodus 8.)
5. I tried to kill one of the strongest men in the Bible! I roar, am really hairy, and am a wild cat! What am I?

Answer: a lion

I am a lion! Samson had nothing to defend himself with when I attacked him. I probably roared really loud and put up a good fight but Samson ripped me apart with his bare hands! I could have killed him, but God gave him strength and he ripped me apart without any weapons. Samson didn't tell his family what happened, but on his way home he saw my body with tons of bees in it.

The bees had made a honey hive out of me! He was really hungry and I made his next meal really sweet. I guess this shows that God can take care of you even with things you don't expect. (This story can be found in Judges 14.)
6. I was very close to a shepherd boy named David. I have wool, am usually white, and baa. What am I?

Answer: a sheep

I am a sheep! Sheep are not very good fighters and someone has to protect us! That's why we loved David so much! David would feed us and keep us safe. He also wrote songs to God when he was alone with us so we had music! Sheep don't always stay with the shepherd though and sometimes David would have to find us when we would wander off and get lost. Big animals also get hungry and sometimes want to eat us! I almost became a lion and a bear's lunch when they ran off with me but David saved me! He later told his king that God was the one who protected him and he had so much faith that God would take care of him he killed a giant! God can give you courage to do great things! (Story can be found in 1 Samuel 17.)
7. I'm usually not a scary animal but I was not friendly to an evil queen. I have four legs, a tail, and I love to bark! What am I?

Answer: a dog

I am a dog! I'm normally a friendly animal, but Jezebel was so bad even the dogs didn't like her. She would tell people to serve other gods and would turn people away from serving the real God. She would try to kill God's prophets and sometimes kill people just because she wanted to.

When she killed Naboth, a grape farmer, just to get his land, God had had enough. He sent Elijah to tell her that she would die. Sure enough, a few years later God sent someone to kill Jezebel and they threw her out a window! They were going to bury her body but the dogs got to her first.

It's really sad when dogs are the only thing that get to go your funeral. (This story can be found in 2 Kings 9.)
8. Peter was really surprised when he pulled me out of the water and found a coin in my mouth! I have fins and live in the sea. Who am I?

Answer: a fish

I am a fish! I helped Jesus pay taxes, but I'm not an animal that would normally carry around money. When Jesus was traveling, tax collectors stopped Peter and asked him if Jesus paid taxes. Peter was really surprised when Jesus told him to go fishing and he would find me, the first fish he pulled up, with enough money to pay the tax collectors with. Sure enough, Peter did as Jesus said and I came up out of the water.

When he opened my mouth up he found a coin that was enough to pay the taxes with. Talk about tax incomes, God really does provide!
9. I didn't want to live with a devil and I ran into the sea oinking, squealing, and moving my fat pink little legs as fast as I could! What am I?

Answer: a pig

I am a pig! Things have to be bad if even a pig doesn't want to live. We lived around a man that was crazy! He beat himself, broke gravestones, never combed his hair, ripped his clothes, and ran around screaming until Jesus came! The poor man that was tormented by evil spirits and when he ran to Jesus for help, Jesus told those demons to leave that man alone.

The demons begged Jesus to just send them into the herd of pigs nearby so Jesus told them go ahead. We may be pigs but we don't want to live with the devil. I guess pigs are not very good at flying or swimming! (This story can be found in Matthew 8.)
10. I carried Jesus through the streets while people threw palm leaves and sang. I am grey, am fuzzy, have two big ears, and am similar to a horse. Who am I?

Answer: a donkey

I am a donkey! You know even if you are young, God can still use you like he did me! When Jesus came to town, he had his disciples untie me and bring me to him to ride on. I was not a magnificent horse or animal that would have had much honor, but I became very valuable because Jesus used me. I had never been ridden before, but the day Jesus rode me I was perfectly fine even with people shouting and singing all around me. Don't ever let people tell you that you are not important to God. If God can use a donkey, he can use anyone that is willing to let him into their life! (This story can be found in Matthew 21.)
