Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. These people sinned and tried to hide from God in the garden of Eden. Which man and woman tried to make an outfit out of fig leaves?

Answer: Adam and Eve

When Adam and Eve ate the fruit God had said not to, they realized that they had no clothes on and were ashamed. They scrambled to make clothes out of fig leaves and hid from God because they knew they were in trouble for disobeying Him. God found them in the garden and was very sad. He made clothes for them out of animal skins and sent them away because they had sinned.
2. Which of these men was given a coat of many colors by his father for being his favorite son?

Answer: Joseph

Joseph was given a coat of many colors by his dad because he was his dad's favorite son. This made his brothers jealous and they tried to kill him. They ripped up Joseph's coat and told his dad that Joseph had been killed. God worked it all out though and Joseph was alive and well in Egypt. He and his dad both cried for joy when they saw each other again years later.
3. After God set Moses and the Israelites free from Egypt, they had to do tons of walking. God kept their clothes and shoes from wearing out for 40 years!

Answer: True

In the desert there were no shopping malls and it would have been hard for people to find new clothes. However, God kept their clothes from wearing out for forty years after they left Egypt! In Deuteronomy 8:4 (NIV) Moses told the Israelites, "Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years." God takes care of His people!
4. When God chose priests He made some very special clothes for them. Who was the first high priest who wore the golden breastplate, turban, and white linen robes?

Answer: Aaron

Aaron was the first high priest. God told Moses to make Aaron and his sons special clothes because he wanted them to represent Him to the people and be holy, or separate from others. He made them white linen robes and they were also not allowed to wear anything that made them sweat. The priests also had to be very clean when they represented God to the people.
5. This man had a robe from the prophet Elijah. Which man got Elijah's mantle after Elijah was carried away to heaven in a chariot of fire?

Answer: Elisha

Elisha was very sad when Elijah was leaving to be with God. He asked Elijah to leave him a double portion of his spirit. Elijah told Elisha if he saw him when God took him away he could have it. Elisha stayed with Elijah and when God carried Elijah away in a chariot of fire, he looked up to heaven and Elijah had thrown his mantle (or robe) to him. Elisha kept the mantle and God allowed him to do twice as many miracles as Elijah had done.
6. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were thrown into the fiery furnace because they did not worship the king's idol. When God delivered them, what amazed the king when he looked at their clothes?

Answer: they did not smell like smoke

The king threw them into the fiery furnace, seven times hotter than it normally was. It was so hot it killed the kings guards that threw them in. However when the king looked up and saw a fourth man in the fire that looked like the Son of God, he told them to come out. Their clothes were not burned and the king was amazed because they didn't even smell like smoke!
7. Angels showed up saying "Glory to God in the highest!" and told shepherds that they would find a very special baby wrapped in swaddling clothes. Who did the shepherds find wrapped in swaddling clothes lying in a manger?

Answer: Jesus

Swaddling clothes were strips of cloth used to wrap babies in during the time Jesus was born. When Jesus was born, there was no place for him or his family to stay except a stable, a type of barn. The shepherds found him in a manger, a place where the barn animals ate hay and food from. However it was a special night, because Jesus came and brought peace and goodwill to all men.
8. This man lived in the desert and preached on the coming of the Messiah. Which man ate locusts and wore a robe made out of camel's hair?

Answer: John the Baptist

John the Baptist lived in the desert and wore a robe made out of camel's hair. He preached to people about the coming Messiah and baptized them in the river for repentance. When John baptized Jesus, a voice came from heaven saying "This is my son in whom I am well pleased". God let John know that Jesus was the Messiah he had been waiting for.
9. This special lady was very helpful to Paul and the early church. Which lady was known as the "seller of purple" because she sold purple cloth and clothes?

Answer: Lydia

Lydia sold purple fabric and clothes as her business. Purple was a very expensive color of cloth because royalty and rulers wore it. When Paul needed a place to stay, she invited him and his followers to stay at her house. Later she became a leader in the early church.
10. Paul told his churches to put on a special soldier's outfit to resist the devil. What did Paul call the outfit that has the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the sword of the spirit, the belt of truth, the shield of faith, and shoes of peace?

Answer: the full armour of God

Paul told them to put on the full armor of God to resist the devil. Paul used a soldier's outfit to show them that we need salvation, righteousness, God's Word (the Bible), truth, faith, peace, and His spirit, to be strong soldiers for Him.
