Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. In 'It's Not Easy Being a Bunny', P.J. considered whether he would be happier if he were another kind of animal. Why did he decide he didn't want to be a bear after all?

Answer: Hibernation was boring

P.J. was feeling dissatisfied with his life - lots of carrots every day, so many brothers and sisters getting in the way, and then there was the matter of his ears - rabbit ears are just so big! He set out to explore the lifestyles of other animals, starting with a bear family.

He liked being a bear until the bears went to sleep for the winter, because P.J. could not sleep at all. It got pretty lonely with nobody around!
2. In 'It's Not Easy Being a Bunny', which kind of animal did P.J. decide was not suitable because they were always working so hard?

Answer: Beaver

After realising that his inability to fly made it hard for him to be a bird, P.J. considered being a beaver (they work too hard), a pig (they spend too much time playing in the mud), a possum (hanging upside down gave him a headache), and a moose (he just couldn't get the call right).
3. In 'It's Not Easy Being a Bunny', P.J. finally decided that being a bunny was best for him.

Answer: True

The last different animal P.J. tried to become was a skunk - but he found the smell they emit to defend themselves impossible to handle, and decided to go home again. PJ finally decided that he liked being a bunny, and it didn't bother him anymore that his ears were too big. PJ also ate all of his cooked carrots that night, and played with everyone of his brothers and sisters.

He was glad to be bunny, and not a bear, or a bird, or a beaver, or a pig, or a moose, or a possum, or a skunk.
4. In 'It's Better Being a Bunny', P.J. is unhappy because his mother won't let him do ANYTHING. Which of these is he allowed to do?

Answer: play with his friends

His mom won't let him eat ice cream for breakfast. She won't let him hang upside down from a tree. She won't even let him watch a scary movie! But he is allowed to play with his friends, so goes to visit Potts Pig.
5. In 'It's Better Being a Bunny', P.J.'s friend Potts Pig is allowed to do everything that P.J.'s mother forbids. What is the result of this indulgence?

Answer: a stomach ache and a bad dream

While the two did enjoy themselves, P.J. learned to appreciate his mother's wisdom in preventing him from engaging in activities that would actually have a bad effect on him. Maybe pigs can do it all, but bunnies are better off behaving as advised.
6. In 'P.J. Funnybunny Camps Out', P.J. and his friends won't let the girls come along because girls aren't brave enough for it.

Answer: True

That's the reason they give, but it turns out that boys are not all that brave, either. Honey Bunny and Donna Duck pretend to be ghosts, and scare the campers into running home with all sorts of excuses for their early return.
7. Who gave P.J. a magic set for his birthday in 'P.J. Funnybunny's Bag of Tricks'?

Answer: his father

After P.J. gets the magic set, he sets about demonstrating all the tricks to his family, until they get a bit bored. Then he decides to show them something really special!
8. In 'Honey Bunny Funnybunny', which of these tricks that P.J. plays on his sister is the last straw?

Answer: paints her face green while she is sleeping

While P.J. enjoys teasing his sister and playing jokes on her, this is one step too far, and he is forced to shape up. Honey Bunny eventually realises that she sort of misses the pranks, as they were a way of showing affection, even if they did sometimes irritate her.
9. In 'The Very Bad Bunny', who is the worst-behaved of these bunnies?

Answer: Cousin Binky

P.J.'s behaviour leaves a lot to be desired (as you will have seen in earlier books), and his carelessness sometimes makes him break or damage things around the house, but he is well-intentioned at heart. Cousin Binky, however, arrives for a visit, and shows the Funnybunny family how bad a bunny can be when he really puts his mind to it.
10. In 'Bunny with a Big Heart', what happens to P.J. that makes him appreciate the value of thoughtfulness?

Answer: twisted ankle

P.J. has to spend a few days in bed after twisting his ankle, and during that time realises how much this is made more pleasant because his family and friends take time out of their lives to care for him. Thinking on how thoughtless he often is, he resolves to change things: he will pick up his toys, he will return things he has borrowed, he will be more patient with his sister - he will become a better bunny.
