Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Where is the Museum of Quidditch located?

Answer: London

Of course, Muggles cannot see the Museum.
2. Which of these is not a wizard broomstick sport?

Answer: Gwenog

Creaothceann was made illegal in 1766 because it was very dangerous and violent. Shuntbumps was popular in Devon, England and remains popular as a childrens' game. Swivenhodge is still played but is not as popular as Quidditch.
3. What position did the "Catcher" turn into?

Answer: Chaser

According to a letter in the archives of the Norwegian Ministry of Magic.
4. Where did the creator of the Golden Snitch live?

Answer: Godric's Hollow

His name was Bowman Wright and he was a skilled metal charmer. Originally, seekers caught a real bird but many wizards thought this was too cruel and so the Snitch was invented.
5. What colour is the Quaffle?

Answer: Scarlet

This is so the Quaffle is distinguishable from muddy ground. It was originally leather.
6. What foul consists of more than one chaser entering the scoring area?

Answer: Stooging

The other three are also fouls.
7. True or False: In Britain, Quidditch referees have to take flying tests, trial and written examinations.

Answer: True

Referees have to prove that they know about Quidditch and that they will not jinx or curse offensive players, even under severe pressure.
8. What year was the first Quidditch World Cup?

Answer: 1473

The final was between Transylvania and Flanders. All of the known fouls in Quidditch occured in this final (about 700 fouls!) The World Cup has been held every four years since 1473 and in 1652, the European Cup was established.
9. When was the last time Chudley Cannons won the Quidditch League?

Answer: 1892

They used to be really good and have won 21 times since the Quidditch League started in 1674.
10. What reserve team did Gryffindor Quidditch Captain Oliver Wood join when he left Hogwarts?

Answer: Puddlemere United

Oliver tells Harry this when they meet at the Quidditch World Cup final in Book 4. The other teams are also Quidditch teams; Ron's favourite team is Chudley Cannons, the Holyhead Harpies who played in what was considered one of the finest Quidditch games ever and is an entirely female team. I suspect that the Tutshill Tornadoes were named after the place where J.K. Rowling grew up (Tutshill) which is not far from where I live!
