Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The Good: Close friend to the four turtles, who was the yellow jumpsuit-clad television reporter?

Answer: April O'Neil

All four were characters from the show, but only April matched the description.

When the series (at that point planned as a short mini series) debuted in 1987 April had worked as Channel 6 for less than a year and was the "cub" reporter.

The series ended up running for an additional ten seasons during which time April became the station's top reporter.

Casey is a friend and sometimes love interest of April's, Irma is the Channel 6 secretary and Mona Lisa was another mutant.
2. The Bad: Which evil mutant was spliced with a rhinoceros that was stolen from the zoo?

Answer: Rocksteady

Neither Shredder nor Krang were mutants in the 1987 "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" series.

Bebop was Rocksteady's partner both as humans before their mutation and as mutants after.

Rocksteady was named after a genre of music. He was also known as "Rhino-Man" in a few episodes.
3. The Bebop: What animal was used to help mutate Bebop from his human form into the beast he became for most of the series?

Answer: warthog

All four animals were used in the turtles mythos for mutations of evil characters.

Bebop was the warthog, Rocksteady the rhinoceros in the cartoon series. In the second live action film a snapping turtle and a wolf were used to create Tokka and Rahzar.
4. The Good: Which character, who affectionately picked up the nickname 'the fifth turtle' was depicted as a preteen boy throughout the series?

Answer: Zach

Zach was never given a last name. In his first appearance he was depicted as a nuisance to the turtles, who was just a big fan and wanted to be like them.

Eventually the turtles convinced him to be an ally instead of annoying. Throughout his subsequent appearances he never seemed to age. He was often used as a reason for the turtles to interact with foes that Zach has discovered.
5. The Bad: Main baddies Krang and Shredder basically went away in the last two seasons of the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" series. Who was the alien warlord that replaced them?

Answer: Lord Dregg

Dregg was voiced by Tony Jay for the duration of seasons 9 and 10.

The character came to Earth from an unknown origin complete with an army of bug-like creatures known as the TechnoGang.

Dregg launched a publicity campaign to make himself a hero and put the turtles in a bad light. That thread ran through the entire 9th season of the show before the turtles were finally able to prove to the world that they were still the heroes.
6. The Bebop: During a third season episode, Super Bebop was introduced. What was it that made him different than the regular character?

Answer: He was a robot.

"Super" versions of both Bebop and Rocksteady were introduced in the episode titled "Super Bebop & Mighty Rocksteady".

The super and mighty versions were robot clones created by Krang. They were 10 times stronger and smarter than the flesh and bone originals. Each only made one appearance in the series though.
7. The Good: Anthropomorphic rabbit Miyamoto Yojimbo was introduced to the turtle verse in a guest appearance. However when the crossover of the two comics happened on-screen the character had a different name. What was it?

Answer: Usagi

Miyamoto Yojimbo was the character in the comic book "Usagi Yojimbo". Animators and writers confused the names and had the character named Usagi when it crossed over from its own comic into the TMNT animated series.

Usagi then appeared in two total episodes of that series, and later also appeared in the 2003 rebooted turtles show.

The character first appeared in the comic in 1987, created by Stan Sakai. He first appeared in the turtles show in season 3.
8. The Bad: Scientist Baxter Stockman was a human who mutated into a fly early in the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" series. He also created which other villainous character(s)?

Answer: Mousers

Baxter Stockman invented the Mousers as pest control robots designed to rid New York of rats.

When no one wanted to buy the robots he was forced to work for Shredder to use the Mousers to attack Master Splinter (a mutated rat).

In later episodes Stockman was again forced to work with Shredder and eventually was mutated into a fly during a lab accident.
9. The Bebop: Though the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle" show ran ten seasons, Bebop was written out after season eight. How was his disappearance explained?

Answer: He was trapped in Dimension X.

During the season 8 finale the Technodrome, and all of its inhabitants, were trapped in Dimension X.

While both Shredder and Krang would resurface for season 10, both Bebop and Rocksteady were gone for good.

Both characters were brought back for the 2012 series during the third season.
10. The Good: With mental powers that helped him to control sea life, Alim Coelacanth was better known as which king of Atlantis in the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" series?

Answer: Merdude

King Triton is from "The Little Mermaid", Aquaman from DC Comics, and The Submariner from Marvel Comics. Merdude was the character in the turtles universe.

Alim had left Atlantis more than 200 years prior to meeting the turtles in order to search for more of his kind. During his encounter with the turtles, Bebop claimed the throne of Atlantis and Merdude had to challenge him to a battle in order to reclaim his rightful spot.
