Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. The King of the Donkeys allowed the group to eat what they wanted and used magic to give it to them. What did Dorothy ask for?

Answer: Beefsteak and cake

Dorothy asked for beefsteak and a layered chocolate cake. She shared some of the meat with Toto. Shaggy Man got apples and a ham sandwich and Button-Bright got a big piece of apple pie. The Rainbow's Daughter, Polychrome, got what she asked for as well: dewdrops and mist-cakes.

The next morning, the king had left them the same food they'd gotten the night before. They took some of it with them for the trip ahead.
2. Which of these was one of the properties that made the Scoodlers unique?

Answer: They could change the color of their skin

The Scoodlers were dangerous, frightening creatures. They could walk backward and forward without having to turn around because they had two fronts and two faces. The Scoodlers could also change their skin from black to white and their eyes were menacing.

However, perhaps their most unique feature was that they could remove their heads. They kept throwing them at Dorothy and her friends to stop them from escaping.
3. How did the group escape the Scoodlers?

Answer: The Shaggy Man took their heads

The Shaggy Man and Polychrome conspired to free themselves from the clutches of the Scoodlers. To stay warm, Poly danced around, but she suddenly reached and slapped the guard. Angrily, the Scoodler guard threw his head at her, but the Shaggy Man caught it in his sack.

The group ran as Shaggy Man caught the heads thrown their way, eventually throwing them all in the gulf. He laughed and said he was fortunate to have played baseball in the past.
4. How did the group manage to cross the deadly desert?

Answer: In a sand boat

Dorothy explained she had crossed the desert a handful of times, once using Ozma's magic carpet. She also used a magic belt at one point, then gave it to Ozma afterwards. The group brainstormed and it was the Shaggy Man who came up with the solution.

His Love Magnet came with a small charm, which he chanted in order to call upon Johnny Dooit. Johnny Dooit could do anything and do it well - so he moved insanely fast and literally built the group a boat that could travel safely over the sand.
5. What was Billina's big news?

Answer: She'd had several chicks

Billina and Tik-Tok greeted Dorothy and her friends in Winkie Country, where people wore yellow. She exclaimed that since she'd last seen the little girl, she'd had ten chicks. It was hard for Billina to tell them all apart, so she named them all Dorothy!
6. What unique item did the Shaggy Man possess?

Answer: The Love Magnet

The Shaggy Man kept a love magnet in his shaggy coat at all times. With it, any person who met him would love him. He offered to give it to Ozma, but since everyone loved her anyway, he agreed to place it on the gates of the Emerald City so whoever came and went would feel loved.
7. What happened when the group visited the donkeys?

Answer: The Shaggy Man lost his head

The Shaggy Man made the mistake of giving the donkey king a compliment. The king responded by replacing the man's head with that of a donkey's. He felt that the Shaggy Man's words were "too wise and admirable" for him to simply be a man. It was only until the group reached the Truth Pond that the Shaggy Man was able to get his own head back.
8. The Tin Woodman revealed something interesting about Oz. What was it?

Answer: There was no money

Nick Chopper explained that there was no kind of money in Oz. People did their jobs happily and willingly. Nobody worked more than half of their time and it was an arrangement that all of Oz was content with.
9. Why wasn't the Musicker invited to Ozma's party?

Answer: He would be too annoying

Sadly, the Musicker was forced to sing at all times. When the group met him, he sang them different songs; the Shaggy Man truly did not like the Musicker. Dorothy thought he sounded like an accordion as he breathed in and out. Ozma stated that this continuous sound would annoy her other guests.
10. Dorothy was considered a princess in the Land of Oz.

Answer: True

Ozma had officially made her good friend Dorothy a princess of Oz. So it was Dorothy who received most of the guests for Ozma's birthday party. Later on, during the first big banquet, Ozma was there to dine with her guests. Dorothy met new friends and old, like the Princess of Ev and the Queen of Merryland.
