2. What does the English proverb "scratch someone's back and I'll scratch yours" mean?

This proverb is meaningful, especially in the business world of today. The phrase has been in use since the 1700s.
3. These pieces of charcoal-black, silver or gold jewellery are often marked with Siam Sterling and created by carving out a pattern into the silver leaving a raised figure. What am I describing?

Answer: Nielloware

Nielloware, produced in Siam (now Thailand), was popular as a gift. It was bought by American soldiers serving in the Vietnam War to send home to their wives or girlfriends.

After baking the piece of jewellery in an open fire, a silversmith would add tiny details by hand and sometimes silver filigree for extra ornamentation. The most popular design displayed Mekkala, the Goddess of Lightning.

Answer: Jewish housewife

"Baleboste" means a Jewish housewife who runs a well maintained home, capably and efficiently. I bet my husband wishes he had one of those! LOL!
5. What is the term known as when you're checking babies at birth for an enzyme deficiency?

Answer: PKU

Answer: Estee Lauder

Estee Lauder started working with her uncle, a chemist, who sold beauty products. Her fascination with beauty products and fragrances grew from there.

9. Who wrote a memoir called "Kafka Was the Rage: A Greenwich Village Memoir"?

Answer: Anatole Broyard

10. Dame Joan Sutherland sang "I Dreamt I Dwelt in Marble Halls". Who recorded this for her 1991 Grammy award-winning album "Shepherd Moons"?

Answer: Enya

While no other singer can beat Dame Joan Sutherland's version, Enya managed to popularise this song in her New Age/Celtic version.

The song "I Dreamt I Dwelt in Marble Halls", also known as "The Gipsy Girl's Dream", is an aria from the opera "The Bohemian Girl".
