Apparently, when this US company set up in the UK, there was already a petrol company using the letters S and O. So, they came up with 'ESSO.'

3. What is the name of the river that is said to 'flow upside-down' through Melbourne?

Answer: Yarra

So called because the silt from the bottom of the river floats on the top making the water appear brown!
