Answer: Auckland

Auckland was established in 1840, and chosen by William Hobson, Lieutenant-Governor of New Zealand, as the capital of the new colony of New Zealand. He named it for his naval commander George Eden, Lord Auckland. It remained as the capital of NZ until 1865, when Wellington was proclaimed capital. Over one quarter of NZ's four million people live in Greater Auckland.

It is sister city to Fukuoka, Shinagawa and Tomioka (Japan), Busan (Korea), Guangzhou (China), Brisbane (Australia) and Los Angeles (USA).

Answer: Blenheim

Blenheim was named after the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill in England. Balclutha and Bluff are in the Southland, but Bunnythorpe is in the North Island.

Waiouru is the coldest, remotest town in the North Island. Waverley is in Taranaki; Wairoa on the East Coast of the North Island, and Waipawa is in Hawkes Bay.

The Waihi gold rush of the 1860's brought people and prosperity to the area. Waipukurau is in Hawkes Bay, Waikanae is on the Kapiti Coast and Wyndham is in Southland.
