Yam Melach means Salt Sea or more commonly the Dead Sea, Yam Sof is the Red Sea and HaYam Hatikon is the Mediterranean
2. Who walked upon the sea in the New Testament?

Answer: Jesus and Peter

Matthew 14:29-31 "Come," he said.

Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!"

Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?"

Passage quoted is from the NIV version
3. Which of these New Testament Biblical cities is not upon the shores of the Kinneret?

Answer: Caesarea Philippi

Tiberias was a Roman fortress during the times of Jesus and so access would not have been give hence not seeing him minister there; Capernaum is a misunderstanding of the Hebrew name Kefr Nahum and Migdal which means 'tower' in Hebrew was the home of Mary Magdalene.
4. Which water source does not feed into the Sea of Galilee?

Answer: Yarmouk River

The Yarmouk River carves through the extreme southern portion of the Golan Heights and comes and joins the Jordan River just south of the Sea of Galilee. If you're visiting drop a line and we can meet for coffee!
5. What is the greatest depth of the Sea of Galilee?

Answer: 40 meters

Consider this interesting fact- submarines during WWII could only achieve the depth of 200 meters during that period and only now can submarines of military class reach such depths as the Sea of Galilee if it were flooded to sea level.
6. What is the circumference of the sea?

Answer: 33 miles

If you're hardy enough to do it there are several bike shops in Tiberias that will rent you a bike for the day so you can pedal the entire thing!
7. True of False - the Israeli Navy patrols the Sea of Galilee?

Answer: False

While the navy doesn't patrol the sea the police do have their headquarters on the southern end of the lake near Yardenit.
8. What altitude is the surface of the Sea of Galilee ?

Answer: 700 feet below sea level

Everyone has heard the term at one time or another of being at 'sea level' but have you ever wondered what that actually is referring too? Well basically it's the starting point of measuring things between the sea and the air. The interesting thing is the sea level readings are not constant or in other words the same around the world primarily due to currents and winds.

In the case of the Sea of Galilee it's 700 feet below sea level to its shores! It's part of the same valley that further southwards has the lowest spot in the world, which is the Dead Sea.
9. The Sea of Galilee is composed of salt water?

Answer: false

Generally as English speakers we equate the word sea with being salt watered but the Sea of Galilee is fresh water. 'Why' you might ask? Well it's down to translation error; the Hebrew word for 'sea' is YAM and 'lake' is YAMAH, someone overlooked this critical difference.
10. Which river flows south out of the Sea of Galilee?

Answer: Jordan River

Probably one of the best known rivers in the world due to the Bible, it's cross-able at some points by jumping over it.
