Bulgan, founded in 1938, is located in northern Mongolia. It is a town and administrative center of Bulgan province. It is situated at the site of the former Daichin Wangiin Khüree monastery at an elevation of 1208 m (3,963 ft).

Khovd is the capital of Khovd Province, officially known as Jargalant sum, and is situated at the fool of Altay Mountains, on the Buyant River.
