Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. Containing four different infections long enough to locate a cure to eradicate the diseases before it's too late

Answer: Pandemic

"Pandemic" is a cooperative game that requires players to travel to major cities around the globe, and contain and find cures for, four unnamed diseases. Each player has different strengths that can be used to aid the effort. Some are useful for treating areas with high disease rates, while others are better suited for curing diseases. If the players cure all four diseases before one of them spreads too far, they win.
2. Battle other monsters for supremacy in a well known city

Answer: King of Tokyo

Players in "King of Tokyo" attack each other and attempt to be the last monster standing, or gain enough victory points to win the game. Only one monster is in Tokyo at a time. While in Tokyo, that monster gains victory points, but cannot heal from damage dealt by other monsters. If a monster is outside of Tokyo, they can heal, but gaining victory points is much more difficult. If I monster loses all of its health points, it dies, and is out of the game.

The last monster standing, or the first monster to gain 20 victory points, wins.
3. Suitors attempt to gain the favor of a princess

Answer: Love Letter

Each player in "Love Letter" is a suitor, attempting to gain the favor of the princess by delivering their love letters to her. Each person is dealt one card, with a character card that is numbered one to nine. The higher the number, the closer that suitor's letter is to the princess. Each character card does something different when played.

For example: if the princess card is discarded for any reason, that suitor is out of the round. The last suitor left in the round, or the suitor with the highest numbered card left when the deck runs out, gains favor from the princess.

The first player to gain enough favor, win the hand of the princess, and the game.
4. Secret agents meet by giving each other one word codes

Answer: Code Names

"Code Names" requires players to correctly guess a series of words on a grid. A player from each team attempts to guide their team to the correct words, but can only give one word at a time. The code giver attempts to link multiple words on the grid together with just the one word clue. The first team to correctly guess all of its words wins.
5. Investigators attempt to find a murderer and accomplice based on clues given by the forensic scientist

Answer: Deception

In "Deception," each player has eight cards in front of them; four that are possible murder weapons, and four that are items found at the scene of the crime. The murderer selects one of each of the two types of cards in front of them, while the investigators attempt to discover the murderer and the cards they selected.

The investigators are only given cryptic clues from the forensic scientist, who cannot speak during the game. The murderer has an accomplice who tries to guide the other players away from the murderer.

There may also, be a witness for the investigation team, who knows who the murderer and accomplice are, but not which is which. Each person has one guess. If the investigators guess correctly, they win. If not, the murderer and accomplice win.
6. Players work together to rescue people from a burning building before the building becomes structurally unstable and collapses

Answer: Flashpoint

Players are firefighters in "Flashpoint," containing fire in a burning building. The ultimate goal is to rescue the people trapped in the building. Each player has different abilities, some more adept at fighting fire, others, better at rescue. If the team rescues enough people before the building collapses, they win the game.
7. Players collect resources to build roads and settlements

Answer: Settlers of Catan

Players are, as the name implies, settlers, beginning a new life in Catan. The land is made up of various resources, that are used to build roads and settlements. Resources can be traded with others if agreed upon, but the ultimate goal is individual success. The first person to 10 victory points wins.
8. Players score points for unique words that fit the category and letter requirement

Answer: Scattergories

In "Scattergories," players fill out responses to descriptive terms, like a boy's name, or famous duos and trios. The catch is, the answers have to start with the letter that was rolled on the die before the round. After the timer expires, all players go around and give their answers. Any answers that are shared between players cancel out, and anyone with a unique answer, gains a point. Once the game reaches a predetermined conclusion, the player with the most points wins.
9. The game of weird rules and regulations, and an even weirder name

Answer: Quelf

"Quelf" is a game of pure nonsense and hilarious requirements. Each player goes around the board, but as they do, are required to do weird and wacky tasks to prevent paying a penalty. The tasks can be as simple as balancing a shoe on your head for a few seconds, or as obscure as leaving the room and not returning until someone comes to check on you.

The penalty for not completing a task is typically moving backwards a few spaces on the board. The first person to reach the end of the board and complete their final task wins the game.
10. Don't get caught without your Diffuse Card in this adorable fluffy game

Answer: Exploding Kittens

In "Exploding Kittens," players draw and play cards, and try to avoid the mischievous kittens that cause a player to be eliminated from the game. There are enough kittens in the deck to ensure that only one person is left standing at the end of the game. The last person standing wins.
