Rum or, more particularly, dark rum is used. It is said that the rum is the dark part of the drink and the stormy part is attributed to the addition of ginger beer.

You would need to visit Harry's Bar in Venice to find the original home of the Bellini. It was created by Giussepi Cipriani, the founder of Harry's Bar.

The Singapore Sling was concocted by a bartender at the Long Bar in Raffles Hotel early in the 20th century. A Singapore Sling is a gin based cocktail to which liqueurs such as Cherry Herring and Benedictine are added along with fresh fruit juices, particularly pineapple juice.

The Eastern & Oriental Hotel (Penang) and The Strand Hotel (Rangoon) were built by the Sarkies Brothers who also built Raffles. The Pensinula Hotel is the grand dame of Hong Kong hotels.
