Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. I spun a wheel and got a 10, but I was forced to stop running at 6 because I got married. What game am I playing?

Answer: The Game of Life

The Game of Life is made by the Milton Bradley Company. In the game, you live out your life from either a college or career to your retirement. The winner is the one with the most money.
2. I spun a spinner and got a two. Then I ran to space number 15, only to find that I can climb up to space number 71! What game am I playing?

Answer: Chutes and Ladders

In Chutes and Ladders, players use a spinner to move around the board, trying to reach the top at space number 100. It is called Chutes and Ladders because during the game, ladders allow you to move up on the board, while chutes make you move down on the board. It is a simple game and great for kids.
3. I rolled two dice and got double four. I ran to Park Place, bought it, and then because I got a double, I rolled again and ran to Chance. The card told me to go directly to jail. What game am I playing?

Answer: Monopoly

In Monopoly, players move around the board using pieces. Some pieces include a hat, a thimble, and a car. Players use play money to buy properties and try to make the other players go bankrupt.
4. At the beginning of the game, I castled to put my king in a safe spot and to give my rook more open space to "run" around the board. What game am I playing?

Answer: Chess

Most chess players use castling because it gives the players peace of mind that their king is in a pretty safe spot and at low risk of being checkmated. This allows them to use other pieces to attack their opponent's king without worrying about their own king.
5. I ran across the board in a zig-zag, and then when I had no more moves at the end of the board, I got another piece placed on top of me and I was pronounced a king. Now I can go backwards! What game am I playing?

Answer: Checkers

A piece in checkers becomes a "king" when it makes it to the opposite end of the board. Unlike other pieces, king pieces can move forward or backward.
6. I ran across the board, using miners to disarm bombs and then using my Marshal to capture my opponent's flag. What game am I playing?

Answer: Stratego

Stratego is a two player strategy game where players use numbered pieces to try to capture the opponent's flag. For example, a Marshal is a 10, while a Miner is a 3. Some versions of Stratego are based on movies like "Star Wars" and "The Lord of the Rings".
7. I ran around the board, looking for clues on who killed Mr. Boddy. When I thought I had it, I said, "I think it was Professor Plum, in the ballroom, with the revolver!" What game am I playing?

Answer: Clue

In Clue (or Cluedo), there are nine rooms, six weapons, and six suspects to choose from. This makes the game fun to play due to so many different outcomes. The game was originally released in 1949.
8. I drew a card and ran 7 spaces to another square, trying to make my way back home. What game am I playing?

Answer: Sorry!

Sorry! was adopted in the U.S. by Parker Brothers. It was first released in 1934. Sorry! can be played with up to four players.
9. I rolled a die and then ran to a specific color. Whatever color I landed on determines what question I'm asked. Since I answered the question right, I sometimes got a wedge for my pie. What game am I playing?

Answer: Trivial Pursuit

In Trivial Pursuit, players answer questions from different categories. Players must fill out their pie by getting questions right in every category. The winner is the player who fills out their pie and then answers one more question correctly.
10. I picked a card, saw its color and then ran to the next space with that color on it. I'm trying to beat my friend to the end because that's how players win the game. What game am I playing?

Answer: Candy Land

Candy Land was first released in 1949. There is no strategy involved in Candy Land, so the game is great for little kids.
