The Battle of Brisbane began when Australian troops intervened while a US MP was arresting a drunk US serviceman. The 'battle' occurred on the 26th and 27th of November 1942. It is estimated to have involved over 5000 combatants - some of whom were armed, and led to one dead Australian as well as hundreds of wounded on both sides.
