Answer: Otto Frederick Rohwedder

His first prototype came out in 1916 but it wasn't until 1927 that he finally produced one that sliced and wrapped the bread so it wouldn't go stale so fast.
2. Who was the Canadian inventor of the green plastic garbage bag?

Answer: Harry Wasylyk

He was from Winnipeg, and with fellow Canadian Larry Hansen invented this item for commercial use (in 1950 according to most sources). Union Carbide bought the invention from them and manufactured Glad Garbage Bags for home use in the 1960s.
3. In 1933 Ralph Wiley discovered polyvinylidene chloride. What is it generally called in North America?

He discovered it while trying to clean some stubborn substance off a vial in the Dow Chemical laboratory. He called it "eonite" but Dow researchers improved it and changed the name to "saran".

Answer: Stephen Poplawski

He was the first to put a spinning blade at the bottom of a container and he used it to make soda fountain drinks. In 1932 he also patented a machine that reduced fruits and vegetables to liquid.

Before this invention one had to watch bread while it was being toasted to ensure the bread didn't burn.

This came about one day at lunchtime when he tried to separate the melted cheese in his lunch with various carpentry tools. It was the woodplane that did the trick. He "fine tuned" it and went into mass production in 1927.

Arthur Leslie Large invented the electric kettle in 1922 but General Electric took it a step further by introducing the cut out electric kettle.

In the 1940s Earl Tupper put his invention on the shelves in stores with limited success. Then when he found out that Brownie Wise was having success selling these plastic containers in door to door demonstrations he pulled the product off the shelves and the rest is history. Supposedly there is a Tupperware party every two seconds somewhere in the world.
9. Who received the first US patent for a waffle iron?

Answer: Cornelius Swarthout

He applied for in in 1869. General Electric released its first electric waffle iron in 1911.
10. Don Sothman invented what unusual eating utensil in the 1990s?

Answer: Popcorn fork

It took him two years experimenting to develop this plastic, three- pronged device for eating popcorn without getting greasy fingers. It also has a built in salt shaker in the handle.
