Aeneid Trivia 2 Trivia Quiz

Part 2 of the Quizzes that test your knowledge of the great Roman epic, the Aeneid. This quiz is much more challenging than my previous one, and I highly recommend reading (in English or Latin) the actual text.

Answer: Claudius

Of all spoils the most important were the Spolia Opima, a term applied to those only which the commander-in-chief of a Roman army stripped in a field of battle from the leader of the foe. The first were said to have been won by Romulus from Acro, king of the Caeninenses, the second by Aulus Cornelius Cossus from Lar Tolumnius king of the Veientes, the third by M. Claudius Marcellus from Viridomarus (or BritovmartoV as he is called by Plutarch), king of the Gaesatae.

Answer: Camilla

Virgil greatly admires warrior-women in his epic, praising the courage of Penthesilea and Camilla.
