It was outside of Winold in Sendaria and it was cold out. At the end, in "Seeress of Kell," Silk reminds Garion of this quote, then says he's had time to think it over and has changed his mind. Of course, he says it with a grin, so we know he is kidding.

This was just before Ran Borune died. After eating some, Ran Borune asks Garion if he can show him his late wife, C'Vanne. Garion does and Ran Borune dies smiling.

Book 4 of "The Belgariad"
Belgarath had given the Fenlings the ability to speak at Vordai's request. The frog may have been the beginnings of a sense of humor. The Fenlings appear again in "Guardian of the West."

Book 2 of "The Belgariad"
Hettar, as a Sha-Dar, knows what horses think. He suggests the horses are tired and could use a break, but they could be exaggerating. Silk is shocked at first, but then seems to enjoy the fact that lying is not limited to humans.

Book 3 of "The Mallorean"
This conversation took place after the battle at Ashaba. C'Nedra is trying to clear up that Beldin and Belgarath are brothers, and realizes Zedar was also, but Belgarath entombed him in solid rock.
