1. In the beginning of the book, Bobby Pendragon and Press Tilton travel to the territory "Cloral". In order to travel through space and time to get to Cloral, they use a portal which only Travelers can use. What does Bobby call it?

Answer: a flume

 The flume on Second Earth is located in an abandoned subway entrance in New York City. In order to get to the actual place where the flume is, Bobby has to walk on the subway tracks!
2. On which territory do most of the events in the book take place on?

Answer: Cloral

 Cloral is a territory with no dry land, only water, more water, and enormous floating barges which people live on.
3. Bobby and Uncle Press are shot out of the flume, and land in a underwater cavern. On a ledge, essential equipment such as masks made out of water that allow Bobby and Press to breathe, spearguns to kill any quigs that might come near, and Cloran clothes. Who put them there?

Answer: Acolytes

 Uncle Press tells Bobby that Acolytes support them on every territory. They can't interfere directly, but they can help blend in. Unfortunately, that's all Press tells Bobby, and he's just as much at a loss about it as you are!
4. Very soon after they come to Cloral, Bobby kills a quig.

Answer: False

What actually happened was the quig (on Cloral, quigs are giant sharks) was supposed to chase Uncle Press as Bobby swam away, and then Press was supposed to kill it with his speargun. Instead, Bobby, trying to get away faster, tried to use a water sled to get to the surface faster, but couldn't control it.

The sled came at the quig, and the quig was distracted and moved, so Press's bullet missed. Then the quig chased Bobby until Vo Spader killed it.
5. Vo Spader, Bobby's savior, rescues Bobby and then takes him and Press to his habitat. What was Spader's habitat named?

Answer: Grallion

 Grallion is actually a huge floating barge. It has about fifty permanent inhabitants, and many more temporary ones. It also has many farms on it, and grows enough food to sustain thirty thousand people!
6. Who is an Agronomer?

Answer: A scientist who deals with food produce.

 These scientists are almost always stressed out - if they fail at their job, thousands of people will starve. No pressure! They tend to worry especially so on Grallion, the farm-barge, as Spader acutely notices.
7. What does Vo Spader do for a profession before he learns he is a Traveler?

Answer: He was on the pilot's crew, and he was also a traffic cop.

 Wu Yenza was the chief aquaneer, not Spader. Spader often got in trouble with Yenza, for minor things like speeding near the docks, but Yenza always had a soft spot for him, so he never got into anything serious. Unfortunately, apart from Spader Yenza is extremely strict, but sobers up whenever its needed.
8. Farther into the book, Bobby, Uncle Press and Spader arrive at The Lost City of Faar. They go to the Council of Faar, and convince them to evacuate Faar in order to save its citizens. Abador, a member of the council, stays behind, waiting by a podium that has four buttons on it. Which color button does he press to sound the evacuation alarm?

Answer: Yellow

 The green one turns off the evacuation alarm, the clear one raises and lowers the podium, and the red one transpires. Transpires means to lift the entire city above ground! Abador dies, and in his death he tries to transpire but doesn't make it. Later, Bobby pushes the button, and Faar rejoins the known territory of Cloral!
9. Of the following people, who dies?

Answer: Uncle Press

 Uncle Press sacrifices his life for Vo Spader's. In his dying moments, he tells Bobby that he knew he was going to die very soon, because there can only be one Traveler per territory, and both Press and Bobby were from Second Earth. Press is buried in Cloral, because it was his favorite territory.
10. From Cloral, where is the next territory Bobby travels to?

Answer: Veelox

 Bobby and Spader go to Veelox first because that's where Saint Dane went, but then they travel to First Earth because they realize that that's the place that needs their help.
