Morgon played the deadly riddle-game with the wraith of Peven of Aum after his parents were killed, and won the game, as well as the hand of Raederle, the daughter of Mathom of An.

2. Who is the High One's harpist?

Answer: Deth

Deth took his name from Tirunedeth, the harper for Ylcorcronlth, Morgol of Herun six hundred years ago. Deth was born not long after the founding of Lungold, a thousand years ago.

3. What is the name of Astrin's cat?

Answer: Xel

Xel, a wild white cat, was a gift to Astrin from Danan Isig, in return for the mystery of a beautiful, flawlessly cut gem Astrin found at the foot of Wind Tower, and showed to Danan.

4. Whom did Heureu marry?

Answer: Eriel

A shapechanger killed the true Eriel, stole her shape, and married Heureu, the land-ruler of Ymris. Heureu's brother, Astrin, tried to warn the king, but he wouldn't listen, and so Astrin left Caerweddin, the capital city of Ymris where Heureu lived, and exiled himself for several years.

5. What is the name of Morgon's house?

Answer: Akren

6. Who is the Morgol of Herun?

Answer: Elrhiarhodan

Elrhiarhodan, or El, is the Morgol of Herun. She and Deth, the High One's harpist, are in love.

Answer: Yrye

Another small, cool detail. Pronounced, 'eerie', I believe.

8. Where was School of Wizards, founded by Ghisteslwchlohm, located?

Answer: Lungold

Ghistelwchlohm founded the Wizard's School at Lungold in order to control the wizards, and learn anything they knew of three stars. He later destroyed the school, and only six of the wizards survived.

9. Who teaches Morgon to first change shape, and what shape does he first take?

Answer: Har of Osterland, a vesta

Har of Osterland teaches Morgon to change shape, by first teaching him the vesta-shape. Morgon bears scars on the palms of his hands that resemble the curved horns of the vesta.

10. Who are the three children of Athol of Hed and Spring Oakland?

Answer: Morgon, Eliard, and Tristan

Athol and Spring, the land-rulers of Hed were killed in a ship that was sunk by shapechangers. The land-rule then passed to Morgon, the eldest of the three.

Answer: The riddle of Kern of Hed

When Morgon asked Kern's riddle, Peven shouted, 'There are no riddles of Hed!', and Morgon knew that he'd won the game.

Har found Hugin running through the snows of Osterland in vesta-shape, and learned that Suth the wizard, his friend, was still alive.

Rood is the second son of Mathom of An, and took the Gold Robe of Intermediate Mastery in less time than any man at the college save Morgon.

Morgon figures out the riddle of the High One's identity, and his hiding place in Wind Tower. Ohm had been impersonating the High One for centuries, and Morgon found him at Erlenstar Mountain, but the true High One was at Wind Tower.

17. Who stows away on the ship that Raederle and Lyra take to find Morgon?

Answer: Tristan

Bri Corbett, the shipmaster, was scandalized to find Tristan, the land-heir of Hed, aboard his ship, after Raederle, Lyra, and the Morgol's guard convinced him to sail them north.

Answer: Morgon

Morgon has three blood-red stars like birthmarks across his forehead. He is the Star-Bearer, and the starred harp and sword were made for him.

Answer: Yrth

Yrth the wizard (I believe it is pronounced 'Earth'), Deth the harpist (pronounced 'Death'), and the High One are all the same people. In his guise as the wizard Yrth, the High One made the starred harp and sword hundreds of years before the opening of the books, in preparation for the coming of the Star-Bearer.
