This is supposedly where she will find her "first proof" that the writer of the notes she's getting is telling the truth. Annemarie suggests sending a card to their former boss, explaining that they didn't do it, and asking politely for their jobs back.

That's why, in the end of the chapter, Miranda and Colin go for pizza without Annemarie.
