One of his father's friends saw plastics as being the way to go, and his girlfriend's mother, well she just wanted to get to know Ben better ... a lot better.

Answer: The Graduate

Simon and Garfunkel provided much of the music for this Mike Nichols directed film, which gave us 2 of the quotes on the list. Dustin Hoffman was excellent as the confused young Benjamin, and delivered quote number 63, "Mrs. Robinson, you're trying to seduce me. Aren't you?" with believable shock.

In the role of Mr. McGuire, Walter Brooke got to deliver quote number 42, "Plastics." Anne Bancroft, Katherine Ross, and William Daniels also starred.
2. (1969) This gritty look at life on the streets of New York offered us the story of an unlikely friendship between Joe Buck, a young man who thought he could make an easy living servicing rich women, and Ratzo Rizzo, a homeless street hustler whose health was rapidly deteriorating.

Answer: Midnight Cowboy

John Schlesinger directed this powerful film, which earned him the Oscar for Best Director. It also won Best Picture that year, although neither of its stars, Jon Voight and Dustin Hoffman, took home a much deserved statue. Hoffman was particularly good, and it was he who spoke quote number 27 from the list, "I'm walking here! I'm walking here!"
3. (1968) Loosely based on the real life of Ziegfield Folly star Fanny Bryce, this musical chronicled her rise as a powerful entertainer, despite her insecurities in her own physical appearance. Streisand's amazing voice and sense of comedic timing earned her a well-deserved Oscar.

Answer: Funny Girl

William Wyler directed this highly enjoyable film that also starred Omar Sharif, Kay Medford, Anne Francis and Walter Pidgeon. Streisand's delivery of quote number 81, "Hello gorgeous." made the quote a memorable one.
4. (1967) Sent to jail for cutting the heads off of parking meters, he soon established himself as a maverick within the system. The bosses tried to break his will by making him spend time in the box, but his numerous escapes proved that he remained unbroken, so they killed him.

Answer: Cool Hand Luke

It is hard to imagine anyone else except Paul Newman playing the role, and delivering the line, number eleven from the list, that ended his life; "What we've got here is failure to communicate." The line was first repeated a few times throughout the movie by the Captain, played by Strother Martin. George Kennedy also starred, under Stuart Rosenberg's direction.
5. (1967) While visiting his mother, in a small southern town, Virgil Tibbs was arrested for murder, simply because of the colour of his skin. When the Police Chief found out that Tibbs was a police detective from Philadelphia, his reluctant help was solicited in solving the case.

Answer: In the Heat of the Night

Sidney Poitier's portrayal of Tibbs was nothing short of amazing. His delivery of the line, number sixteen on the list, "They call me Mr. Tibbs!" can still send shivers down my spine. Rod Steiger also starred, under Norman Jewison's direction.
6. (1964) Bond had his work cut out for him, when the plot to destroy the world economy was uncovered. The man behind the plot had a strange obsession with gold, and a silent servant who killed with the toss of his lethal hat.

Answer: Goldfinger

Although I have never been much of a Bond fan, Connery undoubtedly gave the best performance as Bond. His cooly delivered "A martini. Shaken, not stirred." is quote number ninety on the list. Guy Hamilton directed "Goldfinger", and Honor Blackman, Gert Frobe and Shirley Eaton also starred.

Quote number 22 was also delivered by Connery in the role of Bond, but from the movie "Dr. No". The quote was "Bond, James Bond".
7. (1968) This futuristic movie saw two astronauts and a sentient computer travelling through space, to explore the origins of a strange monolith found on the moon. The computer began acting very bizarrely, going to great lengths to defend against perceived threats to the mission, and to its own safety.

Answer: 2001: A Space Odyssey

Keir Dullea, Gary Lockwood and Douglas Rain starred in Stanley Kubrick's revolutionary film. It was Dullea who spoke the line that is number 78 on the list, "Open the pod bay doors, HAL."
8. (1967) Loosely based on a true story, this movie told the story of a young pair of bank robbers and their gang. This pair made their name during the Depression, in the southwestern corner of the United States. Young and beautiful, they played a violent game, and died a violent death once the law finally caught up with them.

Answer: Bonnie and Clyde

Arthur Penn directed this graphic film that starred Warren Beatty, Michael J. Pollard, Gene Hackman and Estelle Parsons. But it was Faye Dunaway, as the young Bonnie Parker, who delivered quote number 41 on the list, "We rob banks."
9. (1960) When Marion Crane stole $40,000, she thought she was about to embark on a new, better life. Unfortunately she chose to spend the night at the Bates motel, where the conflicted proprieter was torn between his physical attraction to her, and his attachment to his mother. Fortunately Marion's boyfriend and sister were not about to let her disappearance go unsolved.

Answer: Psycho

Hitchcock's masterpiece had many women afraid to take a shower for a very long time. Anthony Perkins, Janet Leigh, Vera Miles, John Gavin and Martin Balsam starred. Perkins spoke quote number 56 from the list, "A boy's best friend is his mother."
10. (1968) When their ship crashed on a strange planet, the crew did not know what to expect. What they found was that another species ruled, and humans were treated as vermin, fit only for slavery, or better yet, extermination. Taylor's ability to speak (after his throat injury healed) finally convinced some of the scientists that he was more intelligent than they had supposed. Released to fend for himself, Taylor discovered a horrible truth about the origins of the planet.

Answer: Planet of the Apes

Franklin Shaffner directed this first, and best, of the series of films about the planet where apes had evolved from man. Roddy McDowell, Kim Hunter, Maurice Evans and James Whitmore starred, but it was Charleton Heston who got to deliver the memorable line, number 66 on the list, "Get your stinking paws off me, you dirty ape." (Adjective has been removed.)

Also from a 60's movie, and occupying position number 64 on the list, was this quote from "Dr. Strangelove". "Gentlemen, you can't fight in here. This is the War Room!"
