Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. "A Nightmare on Elm Street" was one of the most memorable horror flicks of all time. Who was the villain?

Answer: Freddy Krueger

Freddy attacked when his foes were at their most vulnerable. In dreams, Freddy could warp reality and use your fears against you. It was usually a fluke occurrence that led to Freddy's demise. A good example of this is in "Freddy vs. Jason". While in the dream world, Freddy tossed Jason Voorhees around like a stuffed animal.

But when one of the human protagonists went into a dream and pulled Freddy out to the real world, Freddy became no more harmful than your average run-of-the-mill criminal.
2. Cyrus Grissom was one bad man. John Malkovich portrayed him in what 1997 movie?

Answer: Con Air

Cyrus "The Virus" Grissom had ice in his veins. Not a single shred of humanity lived inside him. This is a guy who killed anybody who got in his way or screwed him over, and he never showed an ounce of remorse. Proof of this lies in the scene where he lit one of his fellow convicts on fire because he tried to pull one over on him.
3. Which of these villains have Jack Nicholson, Cesar Romero and Heath Ledger all played at one point or another?

Answer: The Joker

Romero played him in 1966, Nicholson in 1989, and Ledger in 2008. Ledger's version is, by far, the more chilling portrayal. Brilliantly done, Heath tapped into The Joker's true personality. Alfred, Bruce Wayne's butler played by Michael Caine, delivered a line in "The Dark Knight" that captured The Joker's true persona. "Some men just want to watch the world burn."
4. "Star Wars" has had numerous heavy baddies over the years, but only one of them became an icon for fans all across the world. Who was this man in black with ominous breathing?

Answer: Darth Vader

"The road to Hell is paved with good intentions." Never before, or since, has this saying been truer than when it came to Vader. His sole intention for turning to the dark side was to find a way to save the life of the woman his heart belonged to, even though that meant stepping on some people on the way. Anakin Skywalker was a tormented soul, but in the end, the good in him won out when he helped his son defeat Palpatine.
5. Few villains are so over-the-top bad that they become loveable. "Back To The Future" had one of them. What was his name?

Answer: Biff Tannen

Yes, I know. Biff was a bully who enjoyed calling people "butthead" and told lame jokes. This is true. But he was just so inept at everything he did, how can someone not love him? "I have your car towed all the way to your house and all you got for me is light beer?" With lines like that, how did Biff not get his own movie?
6. Tony Montana was a Cuban immigrant looking to own the world. He killed his way to the top in which movie?

Answer: Scarface

Montana took no lip and took no prisoners. He didn't care who you were. You stood in his way? You died. You crossed him? He wouldn't even give you the opportunity to tell him what you wanted on your tombstone. Power trips and drug induced rampages were the names of Tony's games. Even his best friend felt his wrath because he went around Montana's back and bedded his sister.

"Scarface" is about a simple man in Cuba who dreams about power. After he arrives in America, he quickly shoots up the ranks of the Miami drug scene, and in no time, becomes a kingpin.
7. This next villain was, in my opinion, Kevin Bacon's most disturbing portrayal. In "Sleepers", Bacon played a guard at a home for boys. What was his name?

Answer: Sean Nokes

Nokes had a history of brutalizing and raping young boys while employed at the Wilkinson Home For Boys. "Sleepers" told the story of four of those boys who grew up with the long lasting pain that torture brought. Two of those boys became stone cold killers.

As fate would have it, they ran into their old friend Nokes at a bar/restaurant. Nokes got what he deserved and was gunned down right then and there. He definitely should have ordered the brisket.
8. Ferris Bueller was a cool cat. He never did any wrong to anybody. Sure, his sister hated him, but that's what siblings do. There was one other person who hated him, though, and he spent the entire movie trying to bust him ditching school. Was his name Ed Rooney?

Answer: Yes

Rooney didn't care for "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" one bit. He thought he had to catch him to save face and to show the rest of the student body that Ferris' actions were a "first class ticket to nowhere". He never did catch the protagonist and, in the process, Ed was shown to be the fool at every turn he took.
9. Some villains kill for fun. Others take pleasure in watching others suffer for whatever reasons they may have. This "X-Men" villain actually had a good reason for doing the things he did, and in the process attracted other mutants to follow him. Who was he?

Answer: Magneto

Erik Lehnsherr knew from an early age that the humans in charge would never accept mutants as equals. Tired of waiting for them to come around, he took up arms with several other mutants. All Magneto wanted was to be treated the same as any other human, mutant or not, and he would take any means necessary to achieve it.
10. John Milton, played by Al Pacino, ran a law firm in New York. He was a very powerful man. Underneath the human shell, John was something supernatural. Who or what was he?

Answer: Satan

Satan took on a human persona to unleash Armageddon. He had his plan in place, but needed the final piece before all Hell could be unleashed. Enter Kevin Lomax, played by Keanu Reeves. Lomax, the son of the devil himself, held the key to Satan's victory on Earth inside him. Milton needed his son to produce a child. That child was to be the Anti-Christ. The plan failed when Lomax shot himself in the head and sacrificed himself in order to defeat Satan.

"The Devil's Advocate" is the movie.
