Quiz Answer Key and Fun Facts
1. What Disney film also featured the heroine in a forest when she met the prince?

Answer: Sleeping Beauty

In the animated segment from "Enchanted", Giselle lived in a cottage in the forest much like Aurora did in "Sleeping Beauty". Although a princess, Aurora was taken to the forest to avoid a curse that she would fall into a deep sleep on her sixteenth birthday. Prince Phillip was attracted to Aurora's voice much like Prince Edward was.

Unfortunately, the curse came true, and Prince Phillip had to rescue Aurora. "Sleeping Beauty" did not have a yellow troll trying to eat Aurora. Cinderella met her prince at a ball. Snow White was still at the castle for her fateful meeting "The Sword in the Stone" had no romance.
2. In what Disney film would one find the same poisoned apple story line?

Answer: Snow White and the Seven Dwarves

Snow White threatened the queen's hold on the throne. Learning the queen was out to get her, Snow White ran away to live with the seven dwarves. The queen concocted a poisonous apple and offered it to Snow White, in a scene similar to the one in "Enchanted". Both apples had the same effect of putting them into a deep sleep with only true love's kiss as the cure. No apples were easily visible in the other films, except for Pinocchio taking an apple to school.
3. Which Disney film did NOT have an evil step-mother?

Answer: Aladdin

Snow White's step-mother was the queen. In Cinderella, she was the step-daughter to a mother of three. Cinderell'a step-mother immediately found Cinderella's beauty to be a threat to the marital chances of her ugly daughters. Aladdin was an orphaned street rat who fell in love with Princess Jasmine, who apparently had no mother in the film.

In "Enchanted", the villain was Prince Edward's step-mother, Narissa. Narissa was queen but knew that Edward's bride would take her place.
4. Jodi Benson played Robert's secretary at the law office. Which animated character's voice did she provide?

Answer: Ariel (from "The Little Mermaid")

Ariel was the mermaid who dreamed of being on land like the humans. She made a deal with the villain to trade her voice for legs. In the office scene at the aquarium, "Part of Your World" from "The Little Mermaid" can be heard. Paige O'Hara, who was the voice for Belle, had a cameo in the soap opera that Nathaniel watched. Judy Kuhn, who did the singing for Pocahontas, was the pregnant lady with all the children who met Prince Edward. Linda Larkin, who did the voice for Jasmine, was not in "Enchanted".
5. In the park sequence, Robert rowed Giselle across the lake. Which cartoon did this scene mirror?

Answer: The Little Mermaid

In "The Little Mermaid", Ariel's drive to finally become human was when she fell in love with Prince Eric. Unfortunately she had to get him to give her true love's kiss in three days, without her voice. Eric spent one of those days with romantic evening, rowing a mute Ariel around a pond. Sebastian and a number of back-up singers, provided the music with "Kiss the Girl".

The "Enchanted" scene took place during the musical number, "How Does She Know?" in the park scene. Giselle was far from mute as she gave Robert quite a bit of advice on how to show his love for Nancy.
6. Which Disney cartoon also featured a spaghetti dinner?

Answer: Lady and the Tramp

Lady was a cocker spaniel from the best neighborhood. The tramp was a stray from the wrong side of the tracks. Yet the two end up falling love. While on a date, the tramp took Lady to the back of an Italian restaurant. The two dogs ate spaghetti, even sharing a noodle to the point of an accidental kiss.

The song, "Belle Notte" played in the background. The name of the Italian restaurant Robert took Giselle to was called Belle Notte. Robert adamantly declared it not a date.
7. While Edward was flipping through the channels on the television, what Disney cartoon was heard but not seen?

Answer: Dumbo

Edward became fascinated with the magic mirror that we call a television and the black box that controlled it, also known as a remote control. Edward briefly switched to "Dumbo" before Nathaniel asked him to flip back to the soap opera. The story of "Dumbo" was about a circus elephant who became a clown because his ears were extremely large. One depressing night, he and his mouse friend, Timothy, shared what they thought was water and got completely drunk.

They began to see pink elephants who sing a song.

The music from this song can be heard in "Enchanted".
8. Which Disney character's jacket was identical to Robert's at the ball?

Answer: The beast (from "Beauty and the Beast")

The beast wore the beautiful coat in the scene where he danced with Belle in the large ballroom. He had been nervous about the dinner, but he got advice from his servants. He did have to change his hairstyle, which was done in extravagant curls. Belle wore a beautiful yellow dress.

At the beginning of "Enchanted", Giselle was busy recreating a man from her dream. The manikin wore the same jacket that Robert wore at the ball. Prince Edward never wore a similar jacket. While putting the manikin together, Giselle sang "True Love's Kiss".
9. Which of these "Cinderella" references did not make it into the movie?

Answer: Giselle had step-sisters.

There were actually quite a few "Cinderella" references. The animated scene at the beginning showed her consorting with animals as Cinderella did, and one chipmunk, Pip, helped her throughout the film. Giselle's cleaning of Robert's and Morgan's apartment mirrored images from Cinderella cleaning her house. Giselle's forgotten shoe did help Prince Edward find his true love, but it was Nancy who fit it. Giselle has no family shown in the film.
10. In which Disney cartoon did the villain also turn into a dragon for the final showdown?

Answer: Sleeping Beauty

Maleficent, the arch-villain of "Sleeping Beauty" who had cursed Aurora, transformed into a dragon to stop Prince Phillip from breaking the curse. Prince Phillip had to battle the dragon to rescue Aurora. In "Enchanted", Giselle had to battle the dragon to rescue Robert Philip. However, it was Pip who was the hero of the day. Prince Phillip had the aid of fairies.
